In Audrey’s VIP hospital room, several doctors came in from time to time to check on her. Each time, they sighed and left.
Standing nearby, Ulric’s handsome face showed visible signs of anxiety.
If it weren’t for his desire to avoid worsening his parents’ impression of Rosalind, he would have left long ago!
After the primary doctor came in and left for the third time, Ulric finally couldn’t hold back and asked, “No response from Rosalind?”
“If there was, I would have told you,” Caesar replied, showing his phone to prove his point.
Suddenly, Ulric stood up and walked towards the door of the hospital room.
Caesar immediately moved to stop him. “Where are you going?”
“For a smoke.”
“Then I’ll go with you.”
Ulric frowned and looked at his father. “Is it okay to leave Mom here alone?”
“There are caretakers here, and your mom won’t wake up anytime soon. I need some fresh air too.”
“Then lend me your phone for a moment.” Before Caesar could get angry, Ulric added, “I need to give Cedric some instructions. I’ve been away from the company for too long; I can’t be out of touch.”
Caesar thought for a moment but eventually nodded in agreement.
Father and son walked out of the hospital room one after the other. At the corner of the corridor, Ulric finally got the phone.
Seeing that his son was indeed calling Cedric, Caesar relaxed a bit and stepped aside to light a cigarette.
When the call connected, the first thing Ulric said to Cedric was, “Bring a new phone to the hospital and immediately contact Rosalind to see if anything has happened to her. Let me know right away.”
“Yes, Mr. Walters.”
After hanging up, Ulric checked his father’s messages to see if there were any from Rosalind and even looked at the blocked contacts list. He suspected his father might have blocked Rosalind’s number, which would explain why there were no messages from her.
But Rosalind’s number wasn’t in the blocked list.
This meant she really hadn’t replied or contacted him.
Logically, this should have reassured him, but for some reason, Ulric felt a sharp pain in his heart from time to time-a bad premonition.
“Finished your call?”
“Yes.” Ulric handed the phone back to his father.
Caesar offered him a pack of cigarettes, but he declined.
After a few seconds of silence, Ulric spoke in a low but firm voice, “Dad, I know saying this will upset you and Mom, but in this life, I only want Rosalind.”
“You’re still young! Talking about ‘for life’ is premature! There are thousands of women better than her. You’re just being stubborn! Your mom and I like Sirena for good reasons-she can help you in your career and is also filial, pleasing your mother. If you agree, everyone will be happy. Why do you insist on going against us?”
“I’ve said it before; I only want Rosalind.”
“Are you sure Rosalind only wants you?”
Ulric frowned deeply. “Of course.”
“I wouldn’t be so sure! There’s someone named Malcolm around her. Do you know about him?” Caesar said, pulling out some photos from his phone. They were all pictures of Malcolm accompanying Mrs. Eva, taken by paparazzi. “Take a look yourself! This Rosalind has already found herself a backup. Seeing that your mom and I are against her, her mother is helping her find someone new! Ulric, don’t be fooled by her.”
