“Is it Mr. Walters’ child?”
Tilda was still immersed in the immense shock and didn’t hear what Rosalind was saying.
Fortunately, Malcolm was also in the ward. He immediately closed the door and covered his sister’s mouth. “Rosalind said to keep it a secret, so don’t shout!”
“But, but…”
Tilda couldn’t understand why such a thing needed to be kept secret! With a child, what could the Walters family possibly do to her? Shouldn’t this be Rosalind’s protection?
“They dared to harm a human life; do you think they would care about an embryo in my belly?”
“…”
Malcolm nodded, feeling a bit fearful himself.
If those people had directly targeted Rosalind, she wouldn’t have had the chance to be lying here now.
The power of the Walters family was indeed unparalleled! Not just in Northville City, but even across the country, few could rival them. The entire province’s tax revenue and more were closely tied to W Group. Going against them was like an ant trying to shake a tree.
Tilda frowned. “But you still have Mr. Walters. He really loves you.”
Rosalind pulled her lips into a smile and lowered her gaze. “I know, but on the other side are his biological parents.”
She didn’t doubt Ulric’s love for her, but… compared to parental love, she wasn’t confident!
“Are you planning to let go of your mother’s death?”
“As a daughter, I won’t let this matter slide. Everyone stained with my mother’s blood, I won’t spare them, including Ulric’s parents.”
So!
She had to draw a clear line with Ulric now.
Because from now on, their paths would diverge to two extremes.
Tilda sighed, stepped forward, and grasped Rosalind’s hand, her eyes red. “Rosalind… you’re so pitiful! I thought after meeting Mr. Walters, your hardships would end! I thought you two would have a happy ending.”
Rosalind laughed, a mocking smile on her pale face.
“Yes, I thought so too.”
“What about the child?” Tilda suddenly thought. “If you don’t want it, don’t go through the surgery alone. You have to inform me; I’ll be with you! Do you hear me?”
Seeing her not respond, Malcolm spoke up from the side. “Rosalind, you don’t mean to…”
“Don’t worry.” Rosalind interrupted him and gently touched her lower abdomen. “I won’t keep this child. If I give birth to him, where would he belong? Growing up without a complete family, with grandparents who killed his grandmother-his existence would be very awkward.”
She believed that if the child had thoughts, he wouldn’t want to be born into such an environment either.
Just like she often thought growing up, how much better it would have been if her mother hadn’t given birth to her!
“Then I’ll help you arrange for a doctor to perform the surgery without letting the Walters family know about this child.” Malcolm immediately understood Rosalind’s intention.
“Thank you.” She glanced at Malcolm, feeling somewhat guilty.
He had helped her countless times and now might get dragged into the whole situation! The Walters family might even target him and Tilda!
To protect them, she couldn’t afford to believe in love anymore.
She had given up.
Perhaps she woke up instantly with her mother’s death, or maybe… it died with that unanswered phone call from him.
