“Lawyer Reynolds, do you have any comments?”
Before Rosalind could say anything, Ulric spoke up, his tall figure stepping directly in front of her.
It seemed as if… if Sirena made another snide remark towards Rosalind, he was ready to take action against her.
In front of Ulric, Sirena naturally wouldn’t continue her arrogant behavior.
She furrowed her delicate brows and glanced at Ulric, “Don’t forget what you promised your father.”
With that, Sirena turned and left.
Surprisingly, Rosalind didn’t pursue the matter further after Sirena’s parting words.
“I’m done here; let’s go home.”
“Alright.”
Ulric didn’t let the driver take them; instead, he drove them back to Easthaven Bay himself.
On the way, they bought some vegetables and fruits from a roadside stand. Once home, they busied themselves in the kitchen and had a simple dinner.
As they were finishing their meal, Rosalind hesitated with her chopsticks in hand and suddenly said, “You should take back the account passwords you gave me. That way, your partner companies might feel more at ease.”
Ulric paused for a second, his thin lips curving slightly, “They aren’t uneasy.”
“You don’t need to lie to me. After what happened, it’s normal for them to be suspicious of me. I can understand! You shouldn’t bear such a heavy burden just to give me this job.”
Actually, it would be best if Cedric handled it. The partners were familiar with him and knew he had never made a mistake while working with Ulric for years.
It would have been normal for her to handle it as an assistant, but given the recent leak of confidential information, it was understandable that people might see her as tainted and not fully trustworthy.
“Rosalind, I’m the decision-maker. If I think you can do it, then you can.”
“…”
“Why do you doubt yourself so much? I wouldn’t have given it to you if I didn’t believe you were capable.”
He spoke seriously and earnestly, his handsome face stern, much like when he held meetings at the company.
Rosalind pressed her lips together, “But you will-”
“I gave it to you because I trust you the most. If something goes wrong, it’s not just the partner companies that will suffer; W Group will lose even more.” Ulric finished speaking and used his chopsticks to place a piece of meat in her bowl. “Eat more; the work ahead will be tough.”
“Ulric, don’t be so good to me.”
She felt… very uneasy and under a lot of pressure!
In the past, she had been unknowingly protected by Ulric without thinking much of it. But now, it seemed like every little thing Ulric did was because he was deliberately favoring her.
Most importantly, she felt she couldn’t give him anything in return!
Ulric looked at her for a long time before speaking softly.
“You might never understand how happy I feel every time I do something for you.”
“…”
“No rush. I’m not in a hurry.”
They had plenty of time to take things slowly.
After dinner, just as Ulric was about to shower and rest, an issue arose at the company that required an emergency meeting.
Rosalind changed into her pajamas and prepared to organize some documents when she noticed the calendar on her computer screen out of the corner of her eye.
It was already the 23rd…
Her period usually came around the middle of the month…
She furrowed her delicate brows and pondered for almost a minute before sighing in relief.
It seemed she shouldn’t be so sensitive and overthink things. Overthinking had made both her mind and body exhausted, causing her period to be delayed. This wasn’t good for her health.
