Ulric had grown accustomed to waiting for Rosalind.
After all these years of waiting, a little longer wouldn’t make a difference.
As the twilight gradually dimmed, Rosalind looked up at him.
The years seemed to have left no trace on his face, upon closer inspection, he still had the aura of a young man.
“You should smile more often, don’t always keep a stern face.”
“Alright, I will,” Ulric nodded. After Rosalind got into the car, he took the driver’s seat.
Today, he didn’t bring his assistant along. As they drove back, Rosalind felt as if they were an ordinary couple, coming home from work, cooking dinner together, and then falling asleep in each other’s arms.
Unfortunately…
Ulric was not an ordinary man.
Rosalind wanted to ask about his mother but hesitated and ultimately remained silent.
It was rare to have such a peaceful moment together, she didn’t want to ruin it.
Back at Easthaven Bay, Ulric changed his clothes and headed to the kitchen, with Rosalind following him.
“Let me cook today. You should take a rest.”
Although he always said he wasn’t tired, the fatigue on his face was unmistakable. Rosalind knew how many things at W Group required his attention. Despite his busy schedule, he still made time for her.
“I want to spend more time with you.” Ulric didn’t leave but continued preparing the vegetables.
Rosalind smiled and joined him, enjoying this time alone together.
But this bliss didn’t last long before the doorbell rang.
Ulric paused and instinctively looked at Rosalind. She hesitated and asked, “Should I hide? Is it your family?”
“No need to hide. You don’t need to hide from anyone.”
“But…”
“Rosalind, this is your home. It’s our home.”
His words inexplicably gave Rosalind a lot of courage.
She nodded, “Alright, let’s open the door together.”
At the entrance, the video doorbell showed the visitor, it was Sirena.
Ulric’s expression darkened, and Rosalind could sense his reluctance to see her.
After a brief pause, Rosalind softly said, “You should talk to Sirena alone. I’ll go back to the kitchen. Even if you dislike her, try to keep your mother’s emotions stable and avoid conflict.”
She didn’t want to see Sirena and preferred to leave.
Besides, she still had to deal with Mrs. Eva on her side. She understood Ulric’s predicament, balancing his mother’s health concerns was challenging.
He just didn’t talk about it.
“Okay.” Ulric agreed that it wasn’t the right time for them to meet, so he consented.
After watching Rosalind return to the kitchen, Ulric opened the door.
But he had no intention of inviting Sirena in, he just stood at the doorway.
“What do you want?”
“Your father told me you agreed to pretend to be my boyfriend.”
Ulric frowned deeply. “I didn’t say that.”
“Oh, then I must have been mistaken! Your father said you agreed and asked me to come with you to visit your mother in the hospital. If that’s not true, I’ll leave.” With that, Sirena turned to go.
Suddenly, Ulric called out to her.
“Sirena, Johnny once said that in recognition of your contributions to W Group, I should preserve some of your dignity.”
