Caesar’s hand was already raised, driven by impulse to strike again.
But seeing the determination in his son’s eyes, he suddenly gave up.
Even if he beat him to death today, he wouldn’t compromise.
“Son, your mother’s life is in your hands now.”
“…”
Ulric would rather his father hit him or scold him, but when he spoke with a pleading tone, Ulric truly didn’t know how to respond.
“When your mother gave birth to you, she had a difficult labor. I still remember that in the hospital, it was the first time I heard her cry out so heart-wrenchingly. She said they must save her child!” Caesar looked at him with a heavy gaze. “I know you don’t want to give up, you love that girl deeply. But she’s your mother! She brought you into this world, she used her own life to ensure you were born! Are all these things not more important than the girl you love?”
“Is there really no way for her to accept Rosalind?” Ulric insisted because he believed his mother simply didn’t understand Rosalind. Once she got to know her, she would like her!
Caesar sighed.
“Your mother will only accept Sirena as her daughter-in-law.”
“Why?”
“Do you remember the time your mother was kidnapped? If it weren’t for Sirena, you would have lost her by now, do you understand?”
Ulric was stunned. He had guessed that his mother had other reasons for insisting on Sirena, but he hadn’t expected it to be related to that kidnapping incident.
“I don’t want to talk about this anymore, nor do I dare to recall it. Just know this! Now the choice is in front of you. Think about it yourself! I believe that even if I interfere again, you will still have your own thoughts.”
After saying this, Caesar went to find his wife’s attending physician, leaving his son standing there motionless for a long time.

On Rosalind’s side, she had just managed to calm her mother’s emotions, but her own mind was in turmoil.
It wasn’t just because of Sirena’s framing, there were other reasons as well…
After Mrs. Eva fell asleep, Rosalind went downstairs to the garden for a walk and some fresh air. It was then that her phone rang.
Looking down, she saw it was Cedric.
“Rosalind, Mr. Walters has withdrawn the announcement. You can go back to work normally, and your name is on the Fragrant Harbor project!” His tone was very cheerful. Rosalind knew he was eager to share the good news, thinking she would be happy too.
Rosalind was silent for a moment. “Until the investigation is clear, I don’t think my name should be on it.”
This time Cedric didn’t respond immediately, he paused for a long time.
“Do you know how much pressure Mr. Walters faced because of this?”
“…”
“Honestly, I’ve been with Mr. Walters for many years and have never seen him make an exception for anyone! He’s a businessman and should prioritize profit above all else. But this time, he took a huge risk by not removing your name. How can you just lightly say you don’t want your name on it?”
Rosalind frowned slightly. “He didn’t discuss it with me. If he had, I wouldn’t have let him do it.”
“Aren’t you being a bit too self-centered?” Cedric’s tone was full of disappointment. “Rosalind, I never thought you were this kind of person.”
“…”
“Yes, Mr. Walters did this on his own without consulting you. Maybe you think my words today are morally blackmailing you into accepting Mr. Walters’ favor! But have you considered that ever since the issue with Sirena arose, Mr. Walters has been doing his best to help you? He could have easily ignored your grievances and injustices. He didn’t even need to get involved, he could have just found an excuse to say he was on a business trip and too busy with work!”
