Nelson looked at her and nodded slightly.
Then, he suddenly grabbed her wrist and forcefully dragged her outside. Kieran, who was waiting by the car, saw this and dropped his cigarette in disbelief.
Callie struggled to break free, but she couldn’t match his strength. The man opened the car door and shoved her inside, slamming it shut with a deafening noise.
She was thrown onto the back seat, her head hitting painfully.
Nelson pulled out an envelope from somewhere, filled with a thick stack of photos. He took them out one by one. “You think I don’t know? I have every photo of you two from your first meeting until now. Do you need me to recap for you?”
The cold photos fell all over Callie, the edges cutting into her skin and drawing blood.
She picked up the photos. Nelson was right; he knew every time she met Jaquan.
“You followed me?” Callie looked up in shock.
“Do I need to?” Nelson sneered, grabbing her chin. “To me, you’re just an accessory. You think I would waste resources to follow you? You’re overestimating yourself.”
Someone who knows you well knows exactly what to say to hurt you the most.
Callie looked up at him, trembling all over.
“Every time you met, Jaquan sent someone to deliver the photos to me,” Nelson said, his lips moving slightly, easily breaking her down. “Why do you think that is? I’ve been fighting him for years. Everything he does is to take me down, which is why he approached you.”
“Callie, thinking too highly of yourself is not good.”
He was a master at breaking her defenses. Callie’s tears fell uncontrollably. She pushed Nelson away and screamed, “What am I to you both, a tool? You knew about my interactions with him all along and said nothing. Did it make you feel accomplished watching me run around for you?”
In the cramped car, Nelson looked at the woman in the dim light with only contempt and disgust in his eyes.
Disappointment weighed on him as he spoke coldly, “What I don’t want, he won’t take either. I advise you not to dream of becoming Mrs. Scott; it’s for your own good.”
For your own good.
Facing such a Nelson, Callie was already on the verge of collapse. She shouted, “You might as well kill me, Nelson! You might as well kill me!”
Nelson was filled with hostility. He reopened the car door, letting the cold wind rush in and make her shiver.
She didn’t look up and said, “I will send you the divorce papers.”
The tall man paused slightly but didn’t turn around. “Do as you wish if you want your father to stop receiving treatment.”
The car door slammed shut again, making Callie shudder once more, her lips turning pale.
Kieran seemed to have received instructions and carefully climbed into the driver’s seat, not daring to look at the back seat. “He… he told me to take you home.”
After a while without a response, he turned his head and heard her say, “I’m not going back.”
Kieran frowned tightly. “I advise you not to be stubborn now; clearly, you’re no match for him.”
He saw through it clearly, but Callie didn’t listen to a word. “I said I’m not going back. Didn’t you hear?”
“…”
“Just drive me around.”
Kieran had no choice; he couldn’t leave her behind. He drove aimlessly around Ylosea. Touring the entire city would take all night. Callie leaned against the car window, staring blankly at the passing scenery outside.
