Chapter 300: Are You a Masochist?

After much consideration, Callie decided to attend the Scott Group’s anniversary celebration.
Putting personal reasons aside, as the backbone of Oconnor Group’s design department, it would be criticized if she didn’t attend after receiving an invitation.
In the business world, it’s nearly impossible to go it alone; every action must consider the entire team.
However, explaining this to Nelson was not going to be easy. When she called, her call was transferred to his secretary’s phone. After listening to Mrs. Oconnor’s explanation, the secretary was a bit troubled. “Ma’am, are you sure?”
Those words ignited Callie’s guilt.
She knew that the secretary’s question essentially represented Nelson’s attitude.
Given Nelson’s personality, knowing she was attending a rival’s anniversary celebration would definitely make him explode. Having someone accompany her would be better, but with so many recent events, no one had the time. The secretary was truly at a loss. “Ma’am, can’t we just not go?”
Not going? That’s not an option.
Jaquan’s assistant had already called.
“Miss Marsh, you are personally invited by Mr. Scott. You wouldn’t want to make things difficult for me, would you?”
With such an emotional appeal, Callie couldn’t refuse.
Jaquan had also sent the invitation at the last minute, leaving her no time to think, decline, or make excuses.
“How about this, I’ll have Regan accompany me. What do you think?”
“Miss Regan?” The secretary hesitated.
“Yes, she dislikes me the most and is familiar with Jaquan. She can definitely balance our relationship well.”
Callie’s clever idea made the secretary’s eyes light up. “That could work… but…”
Before she could finish, Callie hung up.
Regan was at her desk drawing designs when she noticed someone approaching. She immediately covered her screen. “What are you doing? Trying to steal my ideas?”
Callie leaned on the desk. “Are you free on the day of the Scott Group’s anniversary celebration?”
Regan frowned deeply, feeling uncomfortable. “What do you want?”
“Aren’t you worried about me? Afraid of me getting close to Nelson or Jaquan falling for me? Come with me and keep an eye on me. Isn’t that good?” Callie said animatedly, making Regan shiver.
After a long pause, Regan twitched her mouth. “Are you a masochist?”
Seeing this approach wasn’t working, Callie quickly changed tactics. “Fine, I’ll go alone then. It’s been a while since I last saw Jaquan; we can have a nice chat.”
Regan nearly gritted her teeth as she grabbed Callie’s wrist. “Fine, you win.”
Callie smiled innocently.
On the day of the tenth anniversary celebration, Callie went home to Paucaster Villa Complex after work to change clothes. Regan was already waiting downstairs, impatiently checking the time. “First time I’ve seen someone more dilly-dally than me.”
“I’m coming! Kieran, drive!” Callie chose a dark green evening gown and wore a coat for the cold night, keeping a low profile.
Her plan for the evening was to make an appearance and leave.
From leaving home and getting into the car to arriving at the well-known hotel, Callie hadn’t realized that a huge trap was slowly closing in on her.
Anniversary celebrations happen every year, but tenth anniversaries are rare.
As a senior company in the industry, Scott Group’s event attracted many top bosses who came to support Jaquan.
Even before Callie arrived at the banquet, she could feel its grandeur.
