Chapter 287: Exposed Again

Book:Married The Day We Met Published:2024-10-15

Callie vaguely heard the man mutter softly, “No matter how long you hide, punishment is inevitable. Sooner or later, death comes.”
She found it both amusing and exasperating; sometimes this man seemed like a child.
In the car, Callie tentatively brought up Lucia, offering her opinion, “I think it’s very strange.”
As the car drove into a tunnel, the flickering light fell on the man’s face. Callie looked at him, momentarily feeling he was still a young boy.
But he wasn’t. His voice was cold, “If you find it strange, avoid meeting her unless absolutely necessary.”
He turned to look at her, “Understand?”
“… Yes,” Callie said. “I’ve checked; there’s no issue with this collaboration.”
Nelson didn’t respond directly. He parked the car and leaned over to unbuckle her seatbelt, giving her a quick peck on her lips as he did. “Be careful.”
Callie was caught off guard. Fortunately, it was dark around them, and there were no people nearby. She glared at him, full of playful annoyance.
Nelson smiled mischievously, looking quite handsome.
Neither of them knew that within a few hours, a set of photos was spreading rapidly online, shooting to the top of trending topics like a rocket.
#Mrs. Oconnor’s Affair
The photos showed Nelson and Callie under a withered tree, with a backdrop of snow. He held her hand intimately, and the smile on his face was one he had never shown to any of his previous rumored partners.
The photos were taken by a girl who edited them with filters and colors. Combined with Nelson’s natural good looks, the affection shown by him was undisguised in these photos.
The public was instantly smitten.
The girl’s social media post explained that she hadn’t captured the woman’s face out of caution but because it was in a blind spot. She got closer but was noticed and they got into the car shortly after.
Comments exploded like a beehive: “Oh my god, that smile, that look-this is the same woman from the Paucaster Villa Complex exposure!”
“Great figure, seems like she has long hair too?”

Nelson took a private elevator to the top floor. Before he even reached his office, he saw Kieran rushing over, extremely anxious. “Mr. Oconnor, there’s an urgent matter concerning your wife…”
Nelson’s gaze immediately sharpened.
“… Mrs. Oconnor has been exposed online!”
Callie found out about her exposure online at the same time as Nelson.
It wasn’t even afternoon work hours yet when she walked into the office and overheard a group of people loudly discussing it. Litzy came out of the break room with a coffee, looking displeased.
Callie bumped into her head-on. “What’s going on?”
Litzy pouted, looking listless. “Oh, nothing much.”
Just then, a male colleague exclaimed loudly, “With a figure like that, no wonder Nelson took her home!”
Callie’s heart skipped a beat.
Her expression changed. She didn’t press Litzy further but turned to check her phone.
The buzz was just like when Nelson was photographed before the New Year. The internet was flooded with pictures of her and Nelson standing under the tree. The trunk obscured her face. Thankfully, her face wasn’t exposed.
Her heart raced. This time was different from before; whether her face was shown or not, she had been exposed.
And so clearly that it was inevitable someone familiar would recognize her.
