Chapter 286: I Admit You Are a Fool

Callie had sobered up a bit and quickly returned the call. The other side answered immediately, “Where are you?”
“I wasn’t paying attention earlier. I’m almost at Paucaster Villa Complex!”
Meanwhile, at the airport, Nelson slowed his pace as he walked towards his car. His chest heaved less violently. Listening to the noisy background on her end, he remained silent.
Upon hearing her voice, all his anxiety, unease, and worry vanished.
He was trying to control his temper towards Callie. The moment he thought she might be in trouble, all his rage was triggered.
He almost went to Lucia to demand her whereabouts.
Nelson felt a throbbing headache and frustration building up. “Wait at the intersection after you get off. I’ll be there soon.”
Callie sensed the man’s anger but since he was holding it back, she didn’t say much either. “Okay.”
Nelson’s car was faster than the bus. When Callie arrived, she saw his car parked by the roadside.
A few people got off the bus, bringing with them an unpleasant odor.
The man stood by a desolate street tree and waved Callie over. “Why did you lose contact with Kieran?”
Callie suddenly remembered she had indeed forgotten about Kieran in the parking lot. “I was lost in thought and forgot.”
Nelson took two seconds to steady his emotions. Looking at her helplessly, he didn’t take her phone but directly grabbed her hand, placing it in his palm. If he wasn’t mistaken, there was a hint of dissatisfaction in his voice. “Your hands are freezing.”
Callie remained still, her back stiffened. She asked softly, “What’s wrong?”
What had happened to make him so anxious to find her?
Nelson didn’t respond. He just wrapped an arm around her shoulders and said, “Get in the car.”
Callie was a bit cautious. “I lost quite a bit of money for you at Kenker Hotel today…”
He snorted coldly, “I know.”
“That money…”
“You don’t need to pay it back,” he said with some helplessness.
Callie then smiled happily. “They all say Mr. Oconnor married a foolish beauty.”
“I admit you’re foolish,” Nelson laughed.
“You!” This man was truly infuriating.
At that moment, about ten meters away, a few young girls were standing by the roadside taking selfies. One of them caught something out of the corner of her eye and walked forward a few steps in surprise. The others asked, “What are you looking at?”
The girl craned her neck and pulled them along. “Oh my god… Look quickly, am I seeing things? Isn’t that Nelson?”
Nelson was talking face-to-face with a woman, holding hands. He even seemed to tap her forehead lightly. Every move exuded elegance and protection.
“Oh my god!” Someone covered their mouth in disbelief.
Nelson’s face was clearly visible; anyone could recognize him. Plus, the license plate on the car was too distinctive to belong to anyone else.
“What are you waiting for? Take a picture!”
Nelson had to return to Oconnor Group that day. After having lunch at Paucaster Villa Complex and waiting for Callie to finish bathing and changing clothes, he decided to take her along to Oconnor Group.
“It wouldn’t look good if someone saw us,” Callie said.
Nelson put gloves on her hands and responded noncommittally, “Kieran is afraid of being reprimanded by me and doesn’t dare to see me at Oconnor Group now. Mrs. Oconnor, what’s wrong with you taking a ride in my car?”
If he didn’t explain, she wouldn’t know why he was suddenly so temperamental. But it was clear that dealing with the CEO of Oconnor Group when he was angry wasn’t easy.
She decided to go along with him.
Nelson opened the car door and placed his hand on top of her head to prevent her from bumping it.
