Chapter 274: Collaborating with Scott Group

Callie didn’t question his reasons but half-joked, “Mr. Oconnor, you transferred the talent I personally recruited and gave me this troublemaker. I’m at a loss here.”
Nelson, lying in bed and half-embracing her, casually played with her black hair. “That Jett has improper intentions towards you. I had to take precautions.”
His tone was sinister and possessive.
Callie lowered her eyes slightly. She had long known that for a man of his stature, she had little freedom.
After the new year, work gradually resumed. Nelson truly set his ambitions on the internet, especially focusing on the e-commerce sector, even collaborating with Scott Group.
In this field, Scott Group was a pioneer with experience and capability. The collaboration was a win-win, but Callie could see that Jaquan would benefit the most. She wondered what Nelson had sacrificed for this.
For Lucia?
In the pantry on the thirty-second floor, Shamar poured a cup of coffee for the woman.
“Callie… no, Miss Marsh, we indeed have e-commerce projects in our recent investments. Do you have any objections?” Shamar remained gentle and patient.
Callie pretended to be relaxed, took a sip of coffee, and said, “Many within the company have opinions about this reform. Many are curious, and naturally, I want to know too.”
“So, are you curious or do you have objections?”
Their eyes met, neither holding any kindness.
Callie smiled, “Of course, I’m on Nelson’s side.”
Shamar nodded, “That’s for the best.”
Oconnor Group started with industry and had relied on it for years. Now, with sudden reforms, the board members were likely unsettled. Shamar had no objections and had truly aligned with Nelson’s faction?
This wasn’t Callie’s concern, but remembering what Lucia had said that day made her heart race, fearing Nelson might act irrationally.
After much thought, she went to Scott Group.
Jaquan heard Callie on the phone and gestured for Sabrina to pour him a cup of coffee.
After that day, she hadn’t left but stayed on more proactively.
When the call ended, Sabrina leaned over. “How long have you known each other?”
Jaquan was in a good mood and playfully lifted her chin. “Guess.”
Sabrina smiled, “I won’t guess. But I want to see how she’s saved in your phone.”
Jaquan handed over his personal phone, and Sabrina happily scrolled through it.
There was no contact saved as Callie. Few contacts were saved at all, mostly unimportant ones.
A glint of disdain flashed in Sabrina’s eyes. How could such a woman capture Jaquan’s heart? They were from completely different worlds.
Sabrina returned the phone to Jaquan.
As she turned to leave, she suddenly grabbed his collar and kissed him on tiptoe.
She intended to steal a quick kiss and run but froze when Jaquan didn’t push her away.
She widened her eyes in confusion and continued kissing him. His soft lips fascinated her as she felt his hand on her waist.
A soft moan escaped her lips.
At that moment, Callie, who was about to enter, saw the scene through the door.
Callie immediately turned away. A passing secretary noticed her hesitation. “Why aren’t you going in?”
“Mind your own business.”
