Chapter 273: Assigning a Personal Bodyguard

Book:Married The Day We Met Published:2024-10-15

“Your family exhausted all its wealth to send you to school. You couldn’t stay abroad and were forced to return home. Once back, friends avoided you; those with some status feared being associated with you and becoming a laughingstock. Whether they had grudges against you or not, they wanted to bring you down, dampen your overseas arrogance. Some even called you out just to stand you up, making you look like a drowned rat. Finally, even your own mindset changed, and now you’re jealous of others.”
Nelson’s words were precise, each one piercing Kieran’s heart. Kieran’s eyes almost shot flames as he glared at him.
A series of “you”s left Kieran speechless.
Because he had no grounds to refute, this man seemed to shadow him, guessing his situation with pinpoint accuracy.
“Who are you? Really interesting, coming here just to mock me for fun?”
The secretary could hardly bear to watch. Standing together, Kieran and Nelson seemed worlds apart despite their similar ages.
Kieran looked like a teenager.
Nelson calmly handed over a business card. “If you want to change, I can give you an opportunity.”
Perhaps because it involved Callie, he didn’t want these bad things to affect her.
She got involved in this project because of him.
He wanted to help, so he extended a hand to Kieran, hoping that any future repercussions wouldn’t fall on Callie.
Kieran glanced at the card. “You want me to join your company?”
Pretty smart.
“Why?” he asked, still thinking.
Nelson crossed his hands and replied slowly, “The woman you held at knifepoint the other day is my wife.”
Kieran’s eyebrows tightened as he looked at him suspiciously.
For a moment, the secretary couldn’t believe what he heard when Kieran nonchalantly said, “You want to play savior and give me a chance? Fine, but I won’t join your department; I want to join your wife’s department.”
… Shocking words.
Nelson began to understand and asked sideways, “Why?”
Kieran leaned in sneakily, propping one hand on the car window. “I can keep an eye on your wife for you! She’s so beautiful; are you sure you’re okay with that? What if she cheats on you behind your back?”
The secretary nervously watched Nelson’s expression change, desperately wanting to pull Kieran back. Please, don’t say such nonsense.
Nelson’s expression was unreadable as he replied with a half-smile. Unexpectedly, Kieran added, “Of course, the premise is you pay me a lot of money.”
… Taking advantage while pretending not to.
Kieran’s file noted: Taekwondo black belt ninth degree.
Nelson looked at this energetic young man and didn’t argue. After a while, he said, “But I have one condition.”
“Mr. Oconnor!” the secretary exclaimed. Wouldn’t it be more dangerous if he followed Mrs. Oconnor?
Kieran himself was surprised and incredulous. “You really trust me to go?”
Nelson had no concerns about being cheated on because Callie wasn’t that kind of person.
He had other concerns.
That day, Callie received Nelson’s message: “Let him in to do odd jobs for you. As long as he doesn’t cause trouble.”
Kieran really joined Oconnor Group with a salary of three thousand dollars.
Litzy and the others quickly realized that Kieran was mostly talk. Despite his lingering aristocratic airs, he made a decent assistant.
Moreover, after he joined the company, the issue with the stubborn tenants was quickly resolved.
