Sebastian walked inside the cabin after saying goodbye to Cindy. He sat beside Kylie’s bed with a heavy mind. She was sleeping soundly like a sleeping beauty. He couldn’t help but reach out his hand to touch her face. His finger brushed lightly against her skin, caressing her slightly pale face.
“I promise you that I will find out the truth behind the reasons for our falling apart. Whoever played tricks with our lives has to pay the price with their blood. I will make you the happiest person so that you can forget about all the bad things of your past,” he planted a soft kiss on her face.
When Kylie woke up the next morning she couldn’t move. She could smell the familiar scent but something was holding her in her place restraining her from moving. She opened her eyes to see Sebastian’s handsome face. Then she realized she was sleeping on top of him, her head was on his chest and his hand was holding her waist.
Kylie abruptly threw Sebastian’s hand around her waist and sat up. This made Sebastian jump up from his sleep too.
“Are you feeling any pain or dizziness,” he asked Kylie pulling her closer to check but she pushed him away.
“Don’t you dare touch me,” Kylie screamed. Getting out of bed Sebastian walked to the couch and sat there hanging his head down.
“I won’t touch you, please calm down,” Sebastian said with pained eyes. Kylie was heaving with anger but chose to oblige him instead of fighting in the hospital. She went inside the bathroom to freshen up. She was taken aback after seeing the toiletries lined up inside. Did he bring this for me? she thought but the next second shooke that thought away. It must be Cindy, she said to herself.
After finishing her morning routine Kylie came out to see Sebastian serving breakfast for her. Whenever she thought about their last conversation in his office, she couldn’t stand the sight of him.
“I can take care of myself, you should go now,” Kylie said, her voice cold like ice.
“Once you are done with your breakfast, I will leave for good,” Sebastian said as he placed the breakfast on the small table. Kylie watched the items severed in front of her. There was oatmeal, soup, and juices. She took a deep breath before digging in. After taking the first bite only did she realise how hungry she was.
When she was done with her breakfast, Sebastian silently washed the dishes and placed them in their place before passing her the medicines.
“There are the pills that you have to take after breakfast. Cindy will come soon to give you company. Be good and take care of yourself. Once you are discharged from the hospital, I will take you to meet with your parents,” Sebastian said. Kylie’s eyes became bright with hope. She hadn’t seen her parents for months. She nodded to him and gulped down the pills with water.
After getting assured that she had taken her medicine, Sebastian left the cabin. He left a message to Cindy to come here sooner before leaving for the company.
Soon Cindy was there keeping Kylie company, talking with her about random things, and reading funny jokes. She only left after Kylie was asleep in the night. In her sleep, Kylie felt someone’s touch on her skin. She heard some muffled voices but her sleep was too deep that she couldn’t open her eyelids to see the person. This routine continued for a whole week. Cindy would come every day to check on Kylie and at night Kylie felt some presence. But she hadn’t seen Sebastian after that day.
It was the day of her discharge. Cindy was helping with her packing and Kylie went to the bathroom to change. Kylie heard some low voices coming from the room. She changed into her casual wear and walked out of the bathroom to see Sebastian was standing at the middle of the room with her bag in his hand.
“Are you done? Then let’s go,” he said with a smile as if nothing happened between them. Kylie thought about his promise to take her to her parents so she didn’t deject him this time. She just nodded and followed behind him. The elevator took them directly to the underground parking. Sebastian loaded the bags in the trunk and opened the passenger side door for her. But Kylie walked passed him to open the back door. She settled in the backseat leaning on the soft leather then closed her eyes.
Sebastian watched her tired innocent face for a while before getting inside the car. He drove the car to his penthouse apartment. They had too many unpleasant memories in the villa so he thought taking her in the penthouse would be good for her mental health.
Kylie didn’t ask anything of him when the car stopped in front of the apartment building. She just got out of the car like a robot and walked to the private elevator. Sebastian made several failed attempts to start a conversation with her. But her aloofness and distant behavior made him lose his enthusiasm. Kylie directly went to the guest room, where she used to sleep before, and closed the door.
Tears started streaming down her eyes as soon as the door was closed. It was hard for her to avoid him. The sad look he was giving to her, the attention he was giving to her, they all felt worthless to her. Once she dreamt of having a happy married life with him. But now all she wanted was to go away from him. She wanted to get divorced and become free from this fake marriage of theirs. All these haunting memories were too overwhelming for her. She couldn’t say anything to Cindy, because she didn’t want her friend to worry for her. Cindy was trying so hard to keep her happy but she couldn’t be happy with a broken heart and shattered self-esteem.
Suddenly Kylie heard a message notification on her mobile. She unlocked her mobile to see a video message from a private number. Who could have sent her a video message from a private number?
