Chapter 470

Book:Sweet Infatuation: Love in the Deep Published:2024-5-27

“A lover’s contract?”
Reading the title of the contract, which was in bold black letters, Corey could not help but feel his eyes twitch a little. She had definitely been reading too many romantic novels. How had she even come up with such an idea?
Corey continued to read:
Party A: Ying Xiaoxiao
Party B: Corey
Duration: To be determined.
Terms to comply with while both parties pretend to be a couple:
Number One: The romantic relationship is fake, and it must by no means become genuine or lead to true feelings.
Number Two: Physical displays of affection are only allowed in front of others, and only when it is necessary. In private, a distance must be maintained.
Number Three: The ending date of this contract is to be determined by Party A.
After reading it, Corey burst out laughing as he looked at the woman sitting opposite him, “Miss Ying, why do I feel like this contract is bullshit?”
Ying Xiaoxiao raised her eyebrows and asked, “How so?”
Corey slammed the contract heavily onto the table, then leaned on his elbows and crossed his hands under his chin. Looking at her with a faint smile, he asked, “Do you really think that if we pretend to be lovers, we might actually fall in love?”
Ying Xiaoxiao did not answer.
Corey answered on her behalf. “There’s no chance at all. You’re simply not my type.”
Ying Xiaoxiao’s eyes twinkled.
“Of course, I can’t rule out the possibility that you’d fall for me.” Corey shrugged his shoulders. “However, you know it takes two to tango.”
Corey did not notice how Ying Xiaoxiao looked a little hurt after what he had said.
He went on. “I have no objection to Number Two, but as for Number Three… I totally disagree with it.”
Ying Xiaoxiao looked at him deeply without uttering a sound, because she knew he would go ahead and give his reasons.
“I think that… I should be the one to decide when to end this. At the end of the day, as a passive person, I would like to take the initiative in this respect.”
By saying so, what he meant was that…
“So, will you help me?” asked Ying Xiaoxiao tentatively.
Corey mumbled. “No, I’m just analyzing the terms of the contract.”
Ying Xiaoxiao’s face dropped instantly. She grabbed the contract and stuffed it into her bag carelessly. Then, she turned to give him an icy glare, “If you don’t help, I’ll go and find someone who will.”
Why did her tone sound like she was threatening him?
Corey threw up his hands and said nonchalantly, “Fine, you can ask someone else for help. Then, you won’t be causing me any trouble!”
Ying Xiaoxiao stopped briefly from pulling her bag zipper, and at an angle that Corey could not see, her lips curled into a bitter smile. “True. I shouldn’t cause you any trouble.”
Corey failed to notice that something was amiss in her voice. He chuckled and said in a mocking tone, “I’m quite surprised that you would be considerate enough to know that you shouldn’t cause me trouble.”
Ying Xiao clenched her fists, took a deep breath, and then turned around with a big smile on her face. “And since I’m being so considerate, would you be kind enough to do me a favor?”
Corey was shocked. He looked at her in stupefaction. It was only after a while that he finally managed to gather his words. “Are you really out of your mind today?”
Normally, whenever he mocked her, she would have joined in the banter and cursed right back at him, showing no mercy.
But today, she was so unlike herself.
Corey felt a little panicky, and he quickly took a few steps back while staring at her in alarm. “Ying Xiaoxiao, have you set up some kind of wicked trap for me?”
Ying Xiaoxiao was speechless at his reaction and replied gruffly, “Corey, can you stop thinking of me as being so wicked? I am sincerely asking you to help me out today.”
sincerely?
Well, she was sincere indeed.
At the very least, her temper was pretty mild today.
