Lysander Lake couldn’t help but sigh; it seemed Chris Shelby was not someone he could afford to provoke. If Chris Shelby were that easy to deal with, he would have died countless times by now. Lysander glanced at the general before him and said irritably, “What are you standing there for? Hurry up and organize a rescue!”
“Yes, sir!” Seeing Lysander Lake angered, the Quartz Ridge general did not dare to delay and immediately left. After the general had departed, Lysander Lake collapsed into his chair, his face deathly pale without a trace of blood.
Meanwhile, several miles away, figures burst forth. “Boss, the Quartz Ridge armory has been blown up!” At these words, a satisfied smile appeared on Chris Shelby’s face. Destroying the Quartz Ridge armory was a warning to Lysander Lake not to mess with the East Coast Guards, or he would not be spared.
At that moment, Phoenix approached and said, “Boss, the rescue troops sent by Lysander Lake are on their way.” Chris Shelby, expressionless, ordered, “Send out the Death Guards to wipe out all these Quartz Ridge rescue troops!”
“Yes, sir!” Half an hour later, the battle ended, and the Quartz Ridge rescue troops were completely annihilated. Afterwards, Chris Shelby returned to Amerosia with the Death Guards.
The next day, at Serpent’s Pass. “Boss, are you going back to the East Coast?” Dragon and Lynx, eyes wide, looked at Chris Shelby. Chris nodded and said, “Yes! Lynx, keep looking for news about Tiger and the others.”
Lynx replied solemnly, “Don’t worry, boss. As soon as we find any trace of Tiger and the others, I’ll send someone to rescue them right away!” Convinced that his recent actions had deterred Lysander Lake from any reckless moves, Dragon and the others had also made a plan to strike back at Quartz Ridge heavily.
It had been nearly half a month since Tiger and the East Coast Guards had disappeared, with no news from either Amerosia or Quartz Ridge. At this point, Chris Shelby even felt that Tiger and the others might be dead. Even if Lysander Lake hadn’t personally killed Tiger and his group, the harsh conditions of the Great Desert were brutal enough. Most people couldn’t last even a few days there, let alone half a month.
However, Chris Shelby hadn’t given up; he ordered Dragon and the others to continue the search. The reason Chris was so eager to return was that Bull had called. Ironheart Steer was starting to cause trouble on the East Coast. After receiving the call, Chris found it odd; with the strength of East Coast Securities and the Martial Masters, dealing with a Crazy Steer should be easy. Especially since the Flying Leopards had already been wiped out by Chris, logically, taking out Crazy Steer should be straightforward.
But according to Bull’s account over the phone, it seemed Ironheart Steer had found reinforcements that Bull and his people couldn’t handle. Thus, Chris decided to return to the East Coast first, as he and Phoenix had been searching the Sea of Death for many days without finding Tiger and the others. Even if Tiger and his group were not dead, Lysander Lake no longer dared to touch them.
Dragon would send people to protect Tiger and the East Coast Guards and escort them back to the East Coast. After this incident, Chris Shelby felt that having the East Coast Guards come to the border battlefield was a mistake. The battlefield was simply too cruel, and most of the East Coast Guards were men in their twenties.
Many of the East Coast Guards had died here without ever having settled down, leaving their families to face a cruel fate. Chris Shelby was prepared to return, escorted by fighters specially dispatched by Dragon. Sitting on the transport plane, he couldn’t help but murmur to himself, “Tiger, I hope you’re still alive.” Hours later, the plane landed at East Coast Airport. It was the next day when Chris Shelby returned to the East Coast.
The streets of East Coast were bustling with traffic, bringing vibrancy to the whole city. Returning from the border to the East Coast felt like stepping into another world for Chris Shelby. One was a southeastern coastal city and the other a remote border town blanketed in vast yellow sands. Though both places were in Amerosia, they offered distinctly different environments.
Phoenix looked at Chris Shelby and asked, “Boss, where to now?” Chris replied calmly, “Home.” It had been nearly half a month since he had left, and he was starting to miss his home. In his heart, Chris had come to regard the East Coast as his home, after all, it was where his wife and daughter were.
The streets were lively, everything seemed prosperous. But unknown to many, beneath this facade of prosperity were people shedding blood and sweat for the peaceful lives of the citizens of Amerosia. Phoenix led the Guards of Death and the Phoenix Corps to station themselves at the East Coast base, while Chris Shelby returned to Cloud Bay.
Upon arriving at his villa, he heard the laughter and cheerful voices of Esther and others, bringing a smile to his face. Hadn’t he been fighting for the nation for years just to secure a peaceful life for the citizens of Amerosia? Wasn’t it all to ensure his wife could live without worries?
Chris Shelby walked straight in, where outside in the yard, Harold Jefferson was practicing his boxing. Harold had always felt inadequate, unable to assist Chris Shelby, so he was eager to improve his skills to help him out. Seeing Chris return, Harold hurried over, exclaiming, “Mr. Shelby, you’re back!” Chris nodded and patted his shoulder, “Keep at it, I believe in you.” Harold’s face lit up with an excited smile.
Then, Chris Shelby entered the villa’s main hall. His mood was somewhat downcast from not finding Tiger and the others, but it lifted upon seeing Harold and the rest. In the living hall, Esther and others were watching TV. “Darling, you’re back!” they exclaimed joyfully upon seeing him. Chris looked around and noticed Medusa was missing. Curiously, he asked, “Where’s Medusa?” Esther replied, “Darling, Medusa has gone back to Oxwoods!” Hearing this, Chris felt a twinge of guilt since Medusa had come all the way from Oxwoods to see him, and he hadn’t spent much time with her. Now that she had left, he wasn’t sure when they would meet again.
Before Chris’s return, Esther and the others had already eaten, but seeing him back, May hurriedly went to prepare more food. After dinner, Chris Shelby’s phone began to ring.
