Seeing Leo speak with such confidence, Prince George’s hesitation significantly diminished.
Just as Prince George was about to agree, Dr. Brier stepped forward and said in a threatening tone, “Your Highness, I am the chief physician for the little princess. If you let him take her outside, it means you are denying my treatment plan. In that case, you might as well dismiss me first.”
Although Brier’s words made Prince George feel uncomfortable, they also put him in a difficult position.
Brier was highly renowned in the European modern medicine community, and his medical skills were top-notch. Falling out with him would not be beneficial for the Royal House of Albion.
Seeing Prince George’s troubled expression, Leo had an idea and said to Brier, “Dr. Brier, since you don’t trust me, why don’t we make a bet?”
“A bet? What kind of bet?” Brier asked warily.
“Using my method to treat the little princess, if by evening her condition hasn’t improved at all, I will admit that Atrarian traditional medicine is a sham, and I will never again call myself an Atrarian traditional doctor,” Leo stated.
This piqued Brier’s interest, and he added, “Not only that, but I also want the head of your Atrarian traditional medicine research department to personally come to me and admit that Atrarian traditional medicine is pseudo-medicine!”
“Agreed,” Leo replied with a mysterious smile. “And if you lose?”
Brier laughed dismissively, “If I lose, I will stay here and become your apprentice!”
“Do you mean it?” Leo asked, intrigued.
Brier was a representative figure among European modern doctors. Taking him as an apprentice would undoubtedly cause a stir in the European medical community.
“Do I look like I’m joking?” Brier snorted coldly.
In Brier’s view, the little princess would surely suffer once she stepped outside, meaning he couldn’t possibly lose.
The air quality here was much worse than in the capital of Albion, so the room always had an air purifier running. Additionally, the princess’s skin was sensitive to sunlight and couldn’t be exposed for long periods.
Leo turned to Prince George and said, “Your Highness, you heard my conversation with Dr. Brier. Please be our witness.”
Prince George looked lovingly at his sister and then nodded, instructing a servant to buy two volleyballs.
Leo squatted by the bed and smiled gently, “Princess Isabelle, it’s been a long time since you’ve played outside. How about I take you out to play?”
Hearing that she could go out to play, Isabelle’s eyes lit up. However, the light quickly dimmed as she worriedly asked, “Is my body… okay?”
Leo reassured her with a smile, “Don’t worry, Princess. With me here, your body will be just fine.”
Leo’s sincere smile comforted Isabelle. She had seen many doctors over the years, but none made her feel as relaxed as this Atrarian doctor before her.
Isabelle nodded heavily, her eyes once again filled with anticipation.
Soon, the volleyballs were brought back.
Once Isabelle was dressed warmly, Leo took one volleyball in hand and held Isabelle’s small hand with the other as they walked out of the room.
Brier and the other doctors who had been waiting outside followed closely behind them. Their faces were tense, and two doctors even carried emergency medical equipment in case the princess encountered any problems outside.
When they reached the eaves, the princess instinctively stopped. She looked up at the bright sunlight with a hint of struggle in her eyes.
Leo timely reassured her, “Princess, don’t be afraid. Although your body might feel uncomfortable at first, if you endure it for a while, you’ll start to feel comfortable. I believe you’ll come to like that feeling.”
Leo’s words gave Isabelle a boost of confidence. She took two deep breaths and then courageously stepped out.
As soon as the sunlight hit her face, Isabelle squinted her eyes. Soon after, she felt an itchy and slightly painful sensation on her face.
Isabelle gritted her teeth and endured it, refusing to retreat back into the shadows.
She had spent so much time indoors that she had almost forgotten what sunlight felt like.
Many times, she felt out of place in this world and questioned her existence in it.
Brier stepped forward with concern and asked, “Princess, how do you feel now? Is there any discomfort?”
Soon enough, Isabelle felt the discomfort on her face quickly diminish and be replaced by a warm and pleasant sensation.
Hearing Brier’s question, Isabelle turned and gave him a bright smile. “Dr. Brier, I’m fine.”
“Princess, let’s go play on the grass,” Leo said as he led Isabelle to a lush green lawn in the courtyard.
At the edge of the grass, Leo let go of Isabelle’s hand and tossed the volleyball ahead. “Princess, let’s see who can get to the volleyball first!”
As soon as Leo finished speaking, Isabelle ran off ahead.
Watching from behind, Prince George felt genuinely nervous.
Brier anxiously said, “Your Highness, we can’t let the princess run on the grass; it’s too risky for her health!”
Prince George gritted his teeth and said firmly, “My sister isn’t that fragile. I trust Dr. Leo’s treatment method!”
On the grass, after running a short distance, Isabelle stopped to catch her breath. Her previously rosy cheeks turned pale again.
Brier had been closely monitoring Isabelle’s condition and was alarmed by this change. He quickly shouted, “Get an oxygen bag for the princess and bring her back inside immediately!”
The doctors behind Brier hurried towards the princess but were stopped halfway by Leo.
“Isabelle, don’t be afraid or anxious. Just breathe normally,” Leo reminded her.
Isabelle tried to calm herself down and followed Leo’s instructions to adjust her breathing. She took several deep breaths.
Soon enough, Isabelle’s breathing stabilized. She felt more at ease than ever before.
Then Isabelle ran a bit further and picked up the volleyball from the grass. Holding it high above her head, she joyfully exclaimed, “Dr. Leo, I got the volleyball!”
This scene left Prince George, Brier, and all the doctors stunned.
