Agnes felt grateful and nodded, “Thank you for liking me and understanding me.”
They both held their coffee cups, looked at each other for a moment, then averted their gazes, falling into an awkward silence. Behind the screen, Elisa’s feelings were also quite complicated.
The three of them sipped their coffee or tea, with a piano tune softly playing in the background, adding a layer of charm to the environment.
Elisa’s emotions were like a roller coaster tonight. Even though the girl had rejected Andrew, how long would it take to completely erase her from his heart? Andrew spoke lightly about it, but he must be feeling very sad inside.
Some people are very devoted; once they fall for someone, it’s for a lifetime, and they find it hard to let go. Marrying and having children often become mere compromises, while they spend the rest of their lives reminiscing about their first love.
In any case, Elisa now felt that after spending so many days with the crew, Andrew had found a place in her heart. She didn’t know why but she really liked Andrew, liked him very much.
After a while, Agnes put down her coffee cup and said goodbye to Andrew. “I need to go home and take care of my cat. Goodbye.”
“Alright, I won’t see you off. I’ll stay here for a bit longer.” Andrew needed some time to calm down and was worried that he might not be able to resist holding her hand in the car. After all, he really liked this girl.
“Okay.” Agnes wouldn’t have let him see her off anyway. It would have added another layer of ambiguity to their relationship.
Agnes got up and left, leaving only Andrew and Elisa separated by a screen. Elisa didn’t dare to look at him; she held her teacup with both hands and lowered her eyes because she was afraid of seeing his lonely expression.
Ten minutes passed like this. Only when Andrew got up to leave did Elisa gather herself and stand up. She saw his back, which seemed somewhat desolate.
Her acting skills were good; she quickly followed him out. As she hurried out the door, she intentionally bumped into Andrew. “Sorry,” she said as she glanced at him.
Their eyes met, and Andrew looked surprised. “Elisa?”
“Hey, what a coincidence!” The girl smiled brightly. “What are you doing here?”
“…”
As Andrew struggled to find an excuse, Elisa smiled mischievously. “Do you also think this place has a nice atmosphere? Even busy young people have to find time to check it out?”
Andrew smiled as he walked out. “Yes.”
Elisa followed him. “I’ve heard about this cafe for a long time. I initially liked it because of its name-Listening Cafe-it feels like a place where you can pour your heart out to friends.”
“The coffee here is quite authentic.”
“Yes, it is.”
As they walked out of the cafe, Andrew stopped and asked, “Did you drive here?”
“No,” the girl replied with a smile. “How about you?”
“I did. Let me give you a ride.”
“Thank you so much, Andrew!” The girl’s joyful smile masked her inner sorrow.
Andrew opened the passenger door for her. “Thanks!” She bent down and got into the car.
Andrew returned to the driver’s seat and started the car shortly after.
This was something Elisa hadn’t expected-to sit in his passenger seat and spend these precious minutes with him up close.
She wasn’t overly excited; it felt as if his earlier conversation with that girl still lingered in her ears.
