Alexandra’s POV
“Yes, I wonder if you ever truly loved Daisy.”
Daisy, Daisy. The name rang in my mind and when I realized who he was speaking of, my shoulders slumped and I bent my head as I drifted into space.
*** Flashback***
“Daisy!.” I called out as I searched the house for her. “Where are you Daisy?”. I sighed as I continued searching for her.
“Back here!”. Her soft voice called out from the back of the house.
I rushed to the kitchen and pushed the back door open. I walked through the door and strolled into the open field until her figure came into view.
She sat on a stool, facing a canvas with a brush in her hand. Her long chestnut hair cascaded down her back and her feet hung mid air dangling. The beautiful floral dress she had on and the Sun kissing her soft skin, made it seem like she had fallen from heaven. She was like an angel. Her beauty so divine!.
“What are you painting?”. I hugged her from behind and whispered into her ears.
She turned her head to look at me. “I’m painting the sky, isn’t that obvious.” She rolled her eyes and giggled.
“I know”. I muffled my nose in her neck and inhaled her divine scent. “I just wanted to hear your sweet voice.” I said with a smile. Her voice was so soft and tender, it was like a drop of honey comb.
“You’re so cheesy.” She laughed.
I turned around immediately so I could watch her laugh. Her hazel eyes squinted and as her cheeks rose they became even rosier as she laughed. Her perfect white teeth came into my view and I couldn’t be more astonished by her beauty.
“The sky is so beautiful today.” She sighed in contentment as she looked up to the sky. This was another astonishing thing about her. She loved nature so much. I think she adored it so much that she became like it, calm, peaceful and unapologetically beautiful.
“It really is.” I said with my eyes still on her. I couldn’t get enough, every time I see her, I’m still blown away just like the first time I set my eyes on her.
I moved some locks of hair that had gotten on her face so I could see her clearly. I ran my hands over her soft face and held her cheeks.
“I couldn’t help myself. I had to paint it.” She said, staring into my eyes and hypnotizing me.
“I can’t help myself either”. I said in a hoarse voice as I pecked her lips softly. Her longs lashes fluttered and caressed my face as a smile crept upon her face.
She kissed me back, opening her mouth to grant me access. I slipped my tongue into her mouth as I tried to get a taste of every inch of her mouth. And boy!, she tasted like nothing in the world. Everything about my Daisy was unique and divine.
***End of Flashback***
“Daisy?”. My voice broke I called out her name. It had been so long since I heard that name or even said it out loud. I hate to hear that name or even think of her. It was too painful, her memories were so painful.
“Yes, I wouldn’t be so surprised to hear that you don’t remember her.” Tyler scoffed.
I don’t remember Daisy?, Her memories hunt me. I could never forget her. It was impossible to.
Only a fool like him or a blind man would ask if I ever truly loved Daisy. At that point in my life, I was so in love in her. I was utterly consumed by her. She controlled every of my being.
She made me feel alive, like a person and I adored her. I would have given her anything, if she asked. I would have abandoned my whole life and moved around the world for her.
I would’ve given my life for her, if I could.
She was my weakness and even the blind knew that.
“Daisy was your cousin?.” I asked with bewildered eyes. The wheels were turning in my head and I couldn’t understand anything.
“Yes, She was.” He said in a broken voice, with tears in his eyes.
I never knew she had relatives, perhaps I didn’t ask. I only knew that she was an only child of her parents. With her mother dead, I thought the only surviving person was her father, Mr. Mark. All these were new to me.
“How is that possible?.” I asked, grabbing his collar.
He chuckled darkly before shrugging my hands off. “Her father, Mr. Mark, had a little sister. She had us and passed away years later with our father.” He sighed and continued. “Daisy was like a sister to us. A little sister that we never had. She made everything seem okay, she made life not so terrible.” He said with longing in his eyes.
I staggered back as I listened to the broken man. The way he spoke of Daisy, his choice of words, everything pointed to the fact that he was close to her or at some point their paths crossed because that was exactly how Daisy affects people. She had that charm. She made life bearable.
I watched him silently as he heaved. If they were truly Daisy’s cousin, I don’t understand why they’re here and why they’re connected to Chase.
I walked back to the table and chunked down a glass of drink. I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand and walked back to Tyler. “Why exactly are you working with chase. No more games”. I sighed.
He laughed sinisterly as he glared at me. “You don’t still get it, do you!”. He screamed. “OUR SISTER, DAISY, WOULD STILL BE HERE TODAY, IF NOT FOR YOU!!!..” His voiced boomed in the room.
“If not for me?”. I scoffed. “I did not kill Daisy!” I spat out. “I couldn’t.” I said in a hoarse voice.
“We know that.” He said with a smug smile. “But she died because of you and you know it.!” He screamed out.
“That’s not true.” I said quietly.
“You know it is.” He repeated. “And you will pay for it!.”
“I will pay for it?.” I scoffed. “Don’t you dare threaten me, and besides who’s tied up to a chair”. I laughed.
“We know that you will kill us Alex. We’re prepared to die, that’s why WE allowed you to capture us.” He said in a low eerily tone.
“You’re both prepared to die?.” I asked with raised brows as i swung my gun between them “If you die, how would you make me pay huh?.” I tinted.
“You didn’t hear me the first time, whether we’re with Chase or not, he will be sure to get the job done.” He said with a mocking laugh.
“I see.” I furrowed my brows as I stared at him. It still wasn’t making sense to me, why go after me and not after the real culprit?.
He grunted and glared at me again. “Yes and what better way to make you suffer the way we did than to take away someone you care about”. He laughed sinisterly.
I jumped on him abruptly and grabbed his collar. “What did you say?.” I screamed at him. “What will you do to my Wife?.”
“Relax”. He chuckled. “You will find out soon enough. You will pay for causing the death of our sister!.” He said in a low menacing tone.
“It’s not my fault!”. I screamed at him. I wanted him to believe me or perhaps I wanted to convince myself.
“It is!.” He screamed back.
“It’s not my fault.!” I screamed as I threw a punch at him.
“It’s not my fault.!” I repeated as I continued hitting him.
“It’s not my fault. I never wanted to lose her.” I said quietly as my hands were getting sloppy.
“It’s not my fault.” I whispered again as I dropped down to my knees.
Suddenly a pair of hands guided me up and led me out of the warehouse. “It’s not your fault, Alex.” The fading voice whispered as I got into my car.
Everything else faded away around me, and the voices in my head grew louder.
‘It’s all your fault Alex’.
‘Maybe If you weren’t with her then she would still be alive now’.
‘Everyone around you dies’.
‘Everyone you love dies, the same thing would befall Lily, and it would be all your fault.’
“No, oo”. I screamed as the image of Daisy cold and pale flashed before my eyes. I shook my head vigorously as I tried to get the image off but now it was no longer Daisy, it was Lily, lying in her stead.
“Please no.” I cried out as I held the wheels tightly.
I could not let the same thing happen to Lily. I don’t think I would be able to live with myself.
I had to protect her at all cost.
