CHAPTER 95: KISS IN THE HOSPITAL
NIKOLAI’S POV:
I stared at Lily as she walked into the hospital room, anticipation and nervousness written all over her face.
“Is something going on between you two? It would be wasteful if something actually was”, The officer which Lily identified as Gary, asked.
I smirked at him and just shrugged, walking away from them to make a phone call. He could think whatever he wants to, I don’t care. Lily and I are never going to separate if that’s what people are looking for.
“Is it ready Lev?”, I asked as soon as the call connected. I planned for only me and Lily to come down here. Lev was making preparations for Roman’s downfall.
‘Which is soon… I can smell it’, I said in my head. Messing with Lily and Lily’s father was a wrong move on his end.
I was done putting up with his tantrums just for the sake of my mother.
“Almost boss. Just about to crack the last of Roman’s former man”, Lev replied.
“Do it quick”, I ordered.
“Okay boss”, Lev replied and I ended the call.
Lev’s job was tracking down the men Roman had once used and abused. Roman had betrayed and mistreated them, and now they were eager for revenge. Lev was to find and convince them to turn against Roman. It wasn’t going to be easy, but Lev was the right person for the task.
His search starting the day I came to speak with the detective’s doctor and he searched every corner, looking for anyone with a grudge against Roman.
On this other side, I had men watch Roman’s every move. I was informed he’s currently in Mexico, making deals with cartels.
I chuckled at how dumb he was, no matter who he had working for him, I would always win.
Finally, I would be free from Roman’s control. For years, I’d had to play by his rules, but soon the tables would turn. Roman’s secrets would be exposed and his power would fade.
I trust Lev to get the job done, He was smart, resourceful and ruthless when necessary.
“Just hang on a little more brother, you will soon be 6 feet under”, I muttered under my breath.

I went back to the detective’s ward to check up on Lily but she wasn’t out yet.
‘Of course she wouldn’t come out just yet! She’s with her father she hasn’t seen for a long time!’, my inner voice scolded me.
The two cops at the door kept throwing glances at me, whispering to each other.
“I know I’m attractive, but I don’t do men”, I said aloud and their eyes widen in shock. I smirked in satisfaction as they were not expecting me to say that.
“They are not into you. They are looking at you because you fit the description of a syndicate’s man”, I heard behind, it was Gary.
“I’m wayyy too resourceful to be an ordinary henchman”, I said to Gary, giving him the biggest smirk and he furrowed his brows and taking steps backwards, then I continued, “… Besides, if you’re looking for someone who fits the description, shouldn’t you be looking in the mirror?”.
I walked away before he could say anything.
Who was he to talk to as he likes?! He should thread lightly because Lily is the reason I won’t punish him.

I had stepped out of the hospital to get something for Lily and I to eat when I got a phone call from Ivan.
“We’ve got a problem man”, He said, sounding serious.
“What is it?”.
“Roman discovered one of our men who was keeping a close watch on him and has now taken him hostage”, Ivan explained and I gripped the phone tight.
“Extract him!”, I ordered in anger.
“Impossible! It will be a death’s mission”.
“We can’t just leave him there”, I said, trying to lower my voice not to draw any attention.
“I know it sounds like a bad idea but we have to, or else all our hard work would be compromised”, Ivan tried to make me see reasons.
He wasn’t wrong. I never leave my men behind, they know that, even Roman knows that. I would pull a squad to go rescue one of my own who’s in trouble and if I do so now, Roman is surely waiting to ambush me and that will leave my men wounded, or worse… dead.
I couldn’t risk the lives of my Bratva men, more so when there’s a war ahead. I need the more men I could get especially now that Roman is teaming up with the cartels.
I sighed, pinching the space between my brows before putting the phone back on my ear.
“Let him go…”, I said, no matter how hard it was to say, “and make sure to compensate his family generously”, I said.
“Okay. Take care brother”, Ivan responded before disconnecting the call.
My men knows too well not to disclose any information about me or the Bratva, our hideouts or any plans. Even though they are put through serious torture, it is nothing to them as they were trained under same pressure.
They know that once caught by an enemy and can’t withstand the torture or they are close to confessing, they commit suicide. It is all part of they training.
I hurried, got what I wanted and left back to the hospital. I arrived at the detective’s ward and just then, Lily walked out.
She rushed to me as soon as she saw me, hugging me tightly and sobbing.
“Hey hey, what is it? Why are you crying?”, I asked in concern, dropping the brown food bag on the floor to console her properly.
I don’t know what made her cry and I wanted to know if someone caused it. I wouldn’t care if it was her father, I will help finish him off on that hospital bed.
“Lily…”, I called out again to her softly while stroking her back.
The officers at the door looked at us with confused expression.
“Why are you sad?”, I asked once more.
“I’m n-not sad… it’s all.. happy tears”, She replied, taking her hands away and wiping her tears while smiling beautifully at me. I couldn’t help but smile back at her and dragging her closer to me by her waist.
“Mhmm… it’s slowly turning me on”, I whispered to her and I saw the blush creeped to her cheeks. She playfully hit my chest and I chuckled.
“Babe!”, She called out, looking around to see if people heard what I said.
I wasn’t focused on that, I was more caught up with the fact that she just called me such endearing name for the first time.
“What did you call me?”, I asked and she blushed the more while avoiding eye contact.
“Wha-what? I didn’t… huh?”, She mumbled, looking anywhere but me. I wasn’t going to have that as I was too excited.
I grabbed her face and slammed my lips to hers and she gasped, so did the officers and some nurses. I kissed her to my satisfaction before pulling away.
Lily was frozen at the spot, shocked by my sudden kiss.
“Now… why the tears? Is it your father?”, I asked and she immediately came out of her dazed zone.
“Uh- uhm yeah… He woke up”, She said and I could see her face lit up at the mention of that detective.
“And?”, I asked, picking the brown bag from the floor and held her hand so we could got to a quieter place. There was too many eyes and she must be uncomfortable.
I took us down to my car and sat at the driver’s seat while she on the passenger seat.
“I missed him and he misses me too”, She said with teary eyes, happy tears as she told me.
“I know… and I’m sorry for separating you two”, I will forever feel bad for how I treated her.
“No! You saved me Nikolai”, She said.
Lily went on to tell me about her conversation with her father, his shock in seeing her, him apologizing for not being able to protect her. How he misses their time together and happy she was back.
She did not mention anything about telling her father about me and I respect that, but he has to know we are together and never growing apart.
