Chapter 276: Agreeing So Easily

After a long moment, Dave let go of her face, ran his large hand through her hair, and kissed her with a sudden intensity.
Bianca held onto his shirt, a frown on her face. Even though she tried to pull away, Dave firmly grabbed the back of her head, stopping her from moving.
With a gentle bite followed by a deep kiss, Dave showed a wild intensity, like a hungry animal wanting to eat Bianca in whole.
“Bianca, never forget that you belong to me. I can’t stand seeing you with another man. If that ever happens again, I…”
Dave’s voice trailed off as he buried his face in her long, fragrant hair. In that moment, the once proud man felt his confidence slip away, scared to lose the woman he loved more than anything else.
In the past, if a woman had betrayed him, he would have walked away instantly. But now, he couldn’t find the strength to say anything harsh. The unexpected humility he showed around Bianca was something he never thought he’d feel. Despite everything that had happened, he still didn’t want to let her go or push her away.
The thought of Bianca leaving made Dave feel empty inside, and each breath brought a sharp pain.
He opened his mouth to say something, but the words wouldn’t come. Instead, he held her tightly.
Bianca reached out and hugged him gently. “I’m sorry. I don’t know how it happened so suddenly, but it’s not what you think between Blake and me. You’re the only one I care about, and you’re the only one in my heart. I would never try to get back at you. Can you trust me?”
Dave stayed silent, holding her even tighter.
After a long silence, he finally said, “I feel the same way. I’ve liked you from the start, and no matter what happens, please don’t leave me, okay? Even if I ever lie to you, it won’t be on purpose. Just give me a chance to explain, okay?”
Bianca gently stroked his hair, coaxing him like a child. “Okay. But you have to promise me you’ll never betray me. If you ever stop loving me, just be honest and tell me. I value honesty and won’t hold on to you if it’s not real.”
After experiencing the sting of betrayal, Bianca had turned into a silkworm pupa, carefully wrapping her heart in a thick cocoon for protection.
Only when Dave broke through that cocoon did her heart become vulnerable again. She knew she couldn’t handle any more pain.
With sincerity in his eyes, Dave lifted his head to look into Bianca’s tear-filled eyes. “I promise I will never fail you. If I ever betray you, may I face the consequences?”
Overwhelmed with emotion, Bianca couldn’t hold back her tears and surrendered to a tight, warm embrace in Dave’s arms.
As they held each other, a sudden thought crossed Bianca’s mind. Gently pulling away, she held Dave’s bandaged hand and asked, “How did you get this injury?”
After a long silence, Dave finally confessed that he had angrily punched the wall after seeing Bianca kiss Blake.
Bianca felt a mix of pity and frustration and didn’t know what to say. She looked at him warily and sighed. “That’s really immature. Do you think breaking walls makes you look tough? Who did you imagine hitting-me or Blake?”
Dave raised his eyebrows, and a smile finally appeared on his face.
“How could I ever want to hurt you? It was him I wanted to hit! I wanted to go over there and give him a hard beating!” he replied.
Bianca wrapped her arms around him and said, “Promise me you won’t do that again. Let’s talk things out and clear up any misunderstandings, okay?”
Dave gently held her face in his hand and promised in a husky voice, “Okay, I’ll do what you say.”
Bianca looked up at him, a bit surprised. “Why are you agreeing so easily?”
Dave softly pushed her back onto the bed and said, “Because what my future wife wants is my command.”
He leaned in to kiss her, but Bianca playfully pushed against his chest. He gently caught her hand.
With their misunderstanding cleared up, Bianca finally felt at peace.
When Bianca woke up, she noticed that Dave had already left for work.
Seeing the breakfast he had prepared in the kitchen filled her with warmth. His thoughtfulness and loving gestures always meant a lot to her.
Bianca had grown up craving affection, so it didn’t take much to make her happy. A little love from him, and she would give back so much more.
Just as she was setting the milk on the table, her phone rang. It was Diana. Bianca answered right away.
Diana talked quickly and her voice was urgent. “Linds! You need to get to the office! There’s been an incident! Come fast!”
Bianca felt worried after hearing Diana’s urgent words. Before she could ask anything else, her phone suddenly shut down.
She realized too late that she hadn’t charged it the night before.
But there was no time to think about that. Grabbing some cash, Bianca rushed out and took a taxi.
When she arrived at the office, she saw Diana on a tense phone call. As soon as Bianca walked in, Diana looked relieved and quickly handed her the phone, saying, “The assistant director from Star Search is pulling our artists from the show!”
The voice on the line was straightforward. “Bianca, after careful thought, our team has decided that Reese Vance and Blake Lawson from your agency are not right for our show. We are officially withdrawing their participation.”
Bianca furrowed her brow in confusion and asked for clarification, “What does this mean? We already reached an agreement, didn’t we? Why are you saying it’s not suitable now?”
“The two of them are just too inexperienced for serious consideration. The show’s team wants more established participants,” the assistant director replied dismissively.
Feeling her frustration rise, Bianca struggled to stay calm. “But isn’t the point of the show to highlight new talent? Experience comes from practice. And why do you assume they lack talent? Is it because they’re not popular enough?”
“Well, that’s just how it is. No contract was signed, so what does a verbal agreement matter?” the person on the line said, sounding uninterested and tired.
It was clear he didn’t think Bianca would question his decision as he ended the call. Diana couldn’t hold back her frustration, exclaiming, “Damn it! They make promises and then back out! Doesn’t everyone’s time and effort count? This is ridiculous! They’re clearly pushing around the new trainees…”
