The phone rang incessantly, finally being answered amidst Matteo’s mounting anxiety.
“Didn’t I tell you not to call?” came the stern voice.
“I should never have given you my number!” The voice on the other end was like that of an ancient dragon, each word laden with boundless authority and fury.
It was chilling to the soul, making one shiver uncontrollably.
Matteo swallowed hard, speaking with respectful tones, “Mr. Drake, Flynn has caused serious trouble in Niarak.”
“He’s trying to kill a helmsman of the Eight Extremities School. Now, that helmsman has rallied six Grandmasters and thousands of elite fighters.”
“If Flynn shows up, he’s surely doomed!”
There was a pause on the line, as if the caller was pondering something deeply, then after a long moment, he replied, “Eight Extremities School? That must be Ronald’s outfit.”
Matteo quickly nodded, “Yes, exactly, the leader is Ronald. The Eight Extremities School has over ten thousand followers. Flynn has no chance against them!”
“Heh, I wondered what kind of organization it was. Just that dog’s lackeys.”
“They want to kill Flynn?” A disdainful snort came through.
Every word dripped with contempt for Ronald, as if talking about something utterly worthless.
Little thugs?
A group with nearly ten thousand members and thirty-odd Grandmasters.
In Mr. Drake’s eyes, the Eight Extremities School was just a gang of little thugs?
And he called Ronald an old dog?
Just how powerful was Mr. Drake?
Upon hearing this, Matteo’s spirits lifted, “It sounds like the Eight Extremities School is nothing to you.”
“With that said, could you possibly help save Flynn? He is Adrianna’s child, after all!”
Mr. Drake laughed upon hearing this, “I only serve the lady, not her son. Why should I help?”
“As her son, if he can’t handle the Eight Extremities School, what’s he good for? Better off dead!”
“What?” Matteo hadn’t expected such a response, and in his desperation, he pleaded, “Mr. Drake, I beg you, for the many years I’ve served Adrianna, please save Flynn.”
“Otherwise, let me speak to Adrianna. She will surely ask you to save him!”
Mr. Drake sighed deeply, speaking solemnly, “I appreciate the risks you took for my lady during my absence in Niarak.”
“Since you’ve asked, normally I couldn’t refuse, but I really can’t help now.”
“I’m guarding a grave and can’t leave this place.”
Matteo’s expression stiffened, frowning, “Guarding a grave? You can’t come out?”
“Whose grave? What place can hold someone like you?”
He didn’t know the extent of Mr. Drake’s power, having seen him only once on the day of Adrianna’s feigned death.
Mr. Drake was mysterious!
Matteo’s intuition told him that since Mr. Drake could serve Adrianna, he must be extraordinary in martial arts.
And the aura around Mr. Drake was certainly not that of an ordinary man.
Thus, in this moment of crisis, Matteo had thought to seek his help.
From the conversation, he became even more convinced of Mr. Drake’s formidable power, someone who dismissed even the leader of the Eight Extremities School as inconsequential.
Yet now, he was trapped somewhere, unable to leave?
And guarding a grave, for whom could it be?
A sorrowful thought arose.
Mr. Drake’s voice grew colder, “What did I tell you before? Don’t inquire about my affairs. The more you know, the more dangerous your situation becomes. Did you take my words for the wind?”
“Flynn, I can’t help, because I have more important matters to attend to.”
“If this fails, the world order will no longer exist, and countless nations will fall.”
“By then, countless people will die, and whether Flynn lives or not will be irrelevant.”
“Although it might be impossible for me alone to accomplish this until my death, for the sake of the lady, I must try…”
Mr. Drake left this cryptic message and then abruptly hung up the phone.
For the lady.
To guard the tomb.
Matteo, holding his phone, felt his unease intensify.
Could it be that Adrianna did not survive the pursuit, or had that severe injury from ten years ago claimed her life?
With this thought, Matteo’s face filled with sorrow as he slumped to the bathroom floor.
Suddenly, he jumped up, violently slammed his shoulder against the door, and yelled:
“Open the door! Open it! I must save Flynn, I have to save him!”
“Please open the door! I beg you!”
But the door remained still, silent as if he were the only person left in the world, terrifyingly quiet.
At that moment, tears covered Matteo’s face, his heart filled with despair.
“Flynn, you’re too foolish, too foolish! If you die, how can I face your mother?”
Outside the hospital room, the Kaur family gathered together.
“Flynn’s recklessness is our chance to rid ourselves of him. We must not interfere.”
“Exactly, it’s best if Flynn dies; then he won’t bother us anymore.”
“We don’t have the power to intervene anyway. The Eight Extremities School could wipe out the Kaur family in a sentence; we are nothing!”
The Kaur family members spoke over each other.
They were gleeful, happy, excited, and eager for Flynn’s downfall.
In summary, Flynn’s trouble with Maximo was exactly what they wanted.
Max, with a serious face, advised: “Madeline, you can’t be soft-hearted now. Flynn has caused such a disaster that even Nathan might not be able to save him. We shouldn’t get involved.”
“The most important thing now is to inform Mr. Goff, tell him that you’ve divorced Flynn, and that he has nothing to do with us anymore.”
Madeline didn’t like Flynn, in fact, she disliked him, but she didn’t want him to die.
Yet, in the current situation, she was helpless, and protecting the Kaur family was the priority.
Madeline nodded, sent a message to Maximo with a photo of the divorce certificate attached.
“Your approach is wise. I won’t bother the Kaur family anymore, only Flynn.”
Seeing Maximo’s message, the Kaur family sighed in relief, and a smile appeared on Madeline’s face.
Her heart finally at ease.
From now on, the sky was the limit, and the sea was wide open to all fishes.
The Kaur family had once again averted a crisis.
Flynn, don’t blame me.
As the CEO of the Kaur family, I must prioritize the greater good of the Kaur family.
Everything now depends on your fate.
Inside the Hall of Gathering, Maximo sat solemnly at the top.
Below him sat leaders of various factions, totaling seven, with their followers outside, a crowd surpassing a thousand.
Another seven or eight faction leaders were hurrying over, and within an hour, the Hall of Gathering would host three thousand people.
Earth-shattering, unstoppable.
Even gods and Buddhas would step aside.
Maximo, looking at the message from Madeline, squinted and smiled.
“See that? It’s working. Even a small family like the Kaur family knows about my move tonight.”
“They’ve even disassociated from Flynn, showing they are really scared of me.”
“Orion and Edwin are from Rose’s side, right? Why are they silent now?”
“Scared? Wanting to hide like turtles?”
“Heh, this is just the beginning. Once everyone arrives, I’ll make the entire Niarak kneel at my feet!”
