Arabella rolled over, and she landed right into Kieran’s hands. She looked at him like it was an offence for her to do so. She peered at him and then covered her eyes with her hand. She could not believe what she had done over the night. If her mom heard she was going to give her a long lecture and then have her head afterwards.
She looked at him, and she was tempted to trace her finger across his face in frustration. “Sleep so much more,” she was startled to hear him talk as his mouth moved without even opening his eyes.
“How long have you been awake?” She muttered, feeling shy that he had caught her staring so much that she could drill a hole into his face.
“A while now,” he said, his eyes framing open like a princess that was cast under a spell but was now liberated all of a sudden. He pulled her closer as he wished they could somehow get closer and maybe even mesh together.
“Should we go home? Everly must be worried searching for us,” Arabella murmured into his chest. He opened his mouth to speak but was stopped by the sudden ringing of his phone from the table. He stood up abruptly and she let out a sigh when she saw that he had slid into his underwear after last night. She had seen it all, but she knew that she would be too shy to look at him, especially in broad daylight.
“Speak of the devil,” he said, sitting on one of the chairs by the tale. “Hello, mom?” Kieran said, speaking into the phone.
“Where are you?” Everly asked. She knew that they had spent the night out of the house, and even though the relationship felt unnatural to her, she was happy her son was feeling love and that it was with someone as pure as Arabella.
“We stayed out,” Kieran said like he was answering multiple-choice questions. Arabella sat up straight, confused as to why he would answer like that. She waved her hand at him, hoping that he would stop, but it was too late.
“Oh, you did?” Everly said. She was the parent and she should not get involved, so she cleared her throat. “While you both stay out all night doing couple’s things, I would like to ask you if any of you have your key.”
“I do,” Kieran said before asking Arabella. “Do you have your key as well?” he asked, and she nodded. “We both have our keys,” he said to the phone, and Everly made a sound that showed that she was excited.
“Okay, then since you have means to get into the house, then I guess we can go.”
“Go to where?” Kiersn asked, confused at what his mom meant.
“Your dad and I are taking a trip,” she said happily. “A couple’s trip,” she added because the details matter. They had spoken over the past few days and had decided that they should reconcile and go on a couple’s trip. After that, they were going to go see a couples therapist.
“Oh well, that is wonderful,” Kieran said, knowing that it would have been weird to talk about that sort of thing with his mom.
“See you in fifteen days,” Everly said, and the line dropped dead.
“What was that about?” Arabella asked.
“Should we take a trip?”
“What?”
“A trip?” Arabella asked, taking up the blanket and covering herself.
“Yes, a couple’s trip,” he said, dropping the phone back on the table and walking to her.
“What about work? Aren’t you going to work again?” she asked.
“Are you afraid that you would live broke?” he asked in a teasing tone.
“Of course I am,” Arabella said before tilting her head. “I am jobless now; at least one of us needs to work so we can live a happy life,” she added.
“You know that I do not mind you still thinking with us,” Kieran said. After the trial, Arabella decided to stop working there even though Aurora was no longer there. How could she work there after everything that happened? She would be able to face her co-workers if that were the case.
“I am sure I will get an offer soon from one of those companies,” she said, and he sat beside her.
“And you know you do not need to work again; I can take care of you and as many children as you want to have,” he said with a wink.
“Children?” she said flustered. “We are not even married yet. How are you talking about babies?” she added, looking around and trying to avoid eye contact with him.
“Are you not planning to marry me?”
“Well, you haven’t asked yet,” she said, and he nodded.
“Okay, noted; I will ask you soon,” he said, and she smiled. “Want to have breakfast? I can request for room service.”
“As much as I want a fancy hotel meal, I want to eat a meal cooked by you so badly.”
“Really?”
“Yeah,” she nodded.
“You know what? We have the entire house to ourselves for fifteen days; I would make sure to cook each meal without fail,” he said, and she smiled.
“How did I get this lucky?” She said and then looked at him with shock. She did not want to say any of those words out, but somehow they slipped out of her mouth.
“I should be the one to say that; I literally got the most perfect girl on earth.”
“I think you are exaggerating,” she said, placing her hand on his.
“Am I?” he asked with his lips pouted; she nodded before planting a kiss on his lip and pulling away.
“I want to eat; all that from yesterday drained me,” she said, biting her lips seductively.
“You cannot do that and ask me to ignore it; I do not see how that can work,” he said, pointing to her lips.
“What did I do?” she said, and he pulled her close to him.
“You keep trying to seduce me and it keeps working.”
By the time they got home that night, it was so late that they decided to go to bed. Kieran suggested that they share one room, and Arabella jumped at the opportunity like it was a golden one.
“I am so sleepy, so we would just sleep.”
“Sure”
