In an instant, in mid-air, Firedrake and Death Reek entangled like a dozen foul-smelling poisonous snakes wrapping around two Firedrakes!
Firedrake immediately became furious, roaring madly.
In mid-air, Firedrake danced wildly, struggling and biting fiercely, quickly eliminating the dozen Death Reeks.
Leo’s thoughts moved, and the freed Firedrake surged forward like a raging wave with rolling flames.
The zombies let out a shrill scream and were engulfed by the terrifying fire, turning into human-shaped torches.
Instantly, the fire raged, roasting the zombies who screamed and roared as their rusty armor turned to ash.
Unwilling to give up, the zombies roared again, releasing more Death Reek from their bodies.
Soon, the fierce flames were extinguished helplessly.
Looking at the zombies again, their bodies were charred black and mangled by the fire.
Leo frowned; it seemed that easily defeating these creatures was not so simple.
Just as Leo was about to strike again, the badly burned zombies suddenly turned and fled.
Without a doubt, the zombies realized that this person was too powerful and that their numerical advantage was useless, so they decided to run.
Leo didn’t want to chase them. He shouted fiercely and punched the ground.
Boom!
The ground shook violently, and just as the zombies took a few steps, a tall and thick earthen wall rose in front of them, blocking their path.
Caught off guard, the zombies crashed into the wall, bouncing back with bruised faces.
The zombies looked at the six or seven-meter-high wall, realizing they couldn’t jump over or break through it, and were dumbfounded.
Looking around, they saw that the walls formed a circular enclosure centered on Leo, trapping them completely.
Now, the zombies were like fish in a barrel.
Panicking with no way to escape, the zombies turned back and charged at Leo again.
Leo snapped his fingers elegantly and his right hand danced in the air: “Thunderclap Rune!”
In an instant, lightning and fire burst from Leo’s palm, striking in all directions.
Each zombie hit by the lightning and fire exploded into pieces with a shrill scream, turning into fragments of flesh scattered everywhere.
In just a moment, more than a dozen zombies were blown to bits, leaving only bloody remains on the ground.
Disgusted, Leo almost vomited and quickly used a Spirit Fire Talisman to burn the remains clean.
Finally done, Leo checked the time; it was already past two. Worried that Harold and others might be concerned, he hurried back.
Soon, Leo realized a serious problem: he was lost.
In his haste to chase earlier, he hadn’t paid attention to the path.
Moreover, with the dark night and thick clouds, he couldn’t see anything clearly even if he wanted to remember the way.
With no other choice, Leo wandered around based on his instincts.
Fortunately, his WONDER special watch had GPS functionality, so he was generally heading in the right direction.
About half an hour later, just as Leo was getting anxious, he suddenly heard someone calling nearby: “Leo, Leo…”
It was Harold and his team. Overjoyed, Leo shouted back: “Chief Newman, I’m here!”
Harold and his team, who had been searching anxiously for Leo, were delighted to hear his voice. They quickly found him with their flashlights.
Seeing Leo safe and sound, Harold breathed a sigh of relief and hurriedly asked: “Leo, you really had us worried. So, what happened?”
Leo briefly explained what had happened. Harold and the others were shocked: “What!? How could there be so many zombies?”
Leo shook his head with a bitter smile: “I’m not sure either.”
After hesitating for a moment, he added: “So I can’t be certain if there are more zombies besides the ones we eliminated tonight.”
Harold was stunned and found it hard to believe: “This is really strange. Where did so many monsters come from in this desolate place?”
“Chief Newman,” Leo said, “let’s think about it tomorrow. I’ve been chasing them for a long time and I’m exhausted. I need to rest.”
Harold slapped his forehead apologetically: “Yes, yes. Let’s go back. Everyone light up your lamps and accompany Leo back.”
With that, everyone made their way back to Mount South Village in the dark.
Back at Mount South Village, Leo washed his face briefly and went to rest.
He slept until noon the next day. Feeling refreshed after waking up with a yawn, he stepped outside only to be surprised.
The courtyard was filled with people sitting around. Even Harold was crouched in a corner smoking silently.
Seeing Leo come out, Harold quickly stood up to greet him warmly: “Leo, you’re up? Did you rest well?”
“Not bad,” Leo nodded with a puzzled look. “Chief Newman, what’s going on?”
Harold sighed and smiled bitterly: “We couldn’t sleep with so much on our minds.”
“Yeah,” Gil Freeman added as he walked over. “Thinking about how many more terrifying zombies might be nearby kept us all awake.”
Leo paused; he had slept well himself but understood that ordinary people like Harold would be under immense mental pressure from such supernatural events.
Thinking of this, he comforted them: “Don’t worry. I was sent here to solve this problem. Leave it to me.”
“Yes, we rely on you,” Harold said expectantly.
To Harold now, Leo was practically a savior.
Leo smiled: “Chief Newman is too kind. Let me brush my teeth and wash my face first. Then we can discuss the situation in detail.”
“Sure,” Harold nodded repeatedly.
Ten minutes later, Leo finished freshening up and sat in the courtyard with Harold and others to discuss the case.
Thinking aloud while analyzing, Leo said: “Chief Newman, based on what we know so far, I suspect there may be more zombies nearby.”
“It’s strange enough for even one or two zombies to appear in any place. But why are there so many in this remote village?”
“Exactly,” Harold agreed with a puzzled look. “I’ve been in Redrock County for years and never heard of any zombies appearing nearby.”
Gil Freeman thought for a moment and said: “Could they have come from somewhere else?”
