First, nine stones were arranged in a nine-palace Bagua formation to block the village entrance. Leo then stepped into the center of the stones.
Next, Leo formed a hand seal and sternly shouted, “Quick!”
Nine beams of golden light shot from his hand seal into the arranged stones.
“Done,” Leo stretched lazily and walked out leisurely.
“Huh? Done?” Harold and the others looked at each other in disbelief. Could a few broken stones really keep out the terrifying zombies?
“Don’t worry,” Leo smiled calmly. “Let’s head to the west entrance of the village. Once we’re done, we can sleep peacefully.”
Though skeptical, everyone followed Leo to the west entrance.
Soon, the array at the west entrance was also set up, and they returned to the main house as Leo suggested and went to sleep.
As night deepened, eerie and terrifying sounds echoed through the nearby mountains and forests under the cold moonlight, resembling wind howls and wolf cries, sending chills down their spines.
Leo slept soundly, confident that the array at the village entrance would protect them. Besides, the zombies might not even come tonight.
Around 1 AM, when everyone was in their deepest sleep, the west entrance suddenly lit up with golden light and thunderous roars.
Immediately following was a terrifying, inhuman scream that pierced through the night, echoing throughout the small mountain village.
The villagers, already on edge and sleeping lightly, were instantly awakened. Chaos ensued as people cried and chickens clucked.
In the main house, Leo, who was mentally connected to the array, woke up instantly.
He quickly threw on his clothes and dashed outside like lightning.
Harold and others also rushed out in disarray, their faces filled with panic.
Amidst the chaos, Leo frowned and quickly instructed, “The zombie is at the west entrance. Tell the villagers not to go outside.”
With that, he flashed out of the main house towards the west entrance.
Gil Freeman hurriedly asked, “Chief Newman, what should we do?”
Harold thought for a moment and gritted his teeth. “We can’t let Leo face this alone. Freeman, take a team to inform the villagers not to go out. The rest of you, follow me to support him.”
“Got it.” Summoning their courage, the group grabbed their pistols and ran towards the west entrance.
Leo moved swiftly like a flying shadow. In just a few leaps, he reached the west entrance.
He saw a shimmering golden shield wall on the road.
A zombie clad in rusty armor was furiously ramming against this shield wall.
Leo pierced through the golden light like lightning and landed beside the zombie.
The zombie, unable to penetrate the golden light and in a fit of rage, suddenly sensed someone nearby and turned to pounce on Leo.
Leo smirked coldly. Having dealt with The Drought Zombie before, he wasn’t afraid of this lesser zombie.
With a flash of golden light in his hand, he struck a talisman directly onto the zombie’s chest.
The poor zombie was instantly sent flying several meters away, engulfed in spirit fire that burned its entire body.
In moments, the spirit fire raged fiercely, causing the zombie to scream in agony as even its armor turned to ashes.
If nothing unexpected happened, the spirit fire would reduce the zombie to ashes.
However, the zombie suddenly let out a strange howl, releasing a large amount of sinister black gas that extinguished the spirit fire.
This scene left Leo slightly stunned. Just as he was about to attack again, the zombie turned and fled quickly with a series of jumps.
It seemed that this zombie knew it couldn’t defeat Leo and decided to escape.
Leo flashed forward in pursuit.
By this time, Harold and others had also reached the west entrance.
They saw Leo chasing after the zombie. The sight of the charred zombie hopping away terrified them.
Harold swallowed hard and gritted his teeth. “Comrades, don’t be afraid. Evil cannot prevail over good. Follow me to support Leo.”
“Right.” Summoning their courage again, they approached the golden light barrier. Someone cautiously touched it and found it harmless to humans.
“Chase!” Relieved, they shouted and swarmed through the golden barrier, following Leo’s direction.
However, both Leo and the zombie were incredibly fast. Despite their efforts, the police officers fell further behind.
Leo chased the zombie into the mountains within a few steps.
The mountain path was rugged and overgrown with thorns, making it difficult to traverse.
Leo intentionally kept close to the zombie like bait on a long line.
Gradually, they disappeared into the dark night and endless mountains.
Suddenly, the hopping zombie ahead stopped and turned around.
Just as Leo prepared to strike, terrifying howls echoed from all directions and rapidly approached.
Leo was startled and quickly looked around, only to be dumbfounded.
There were many zombies!
To his surprise, more than a dozen zombies clad in rusty armor surrounded him from all sides, shaking the ground with their jumps.
The scene was like a dance of demons-utterly terrifying.
In an instant, these zombies joined forces with the one Leo had been chasing, forming a large circle that trapped him in the center.
These zombies not only knew when to retreat but also understood tactics like luring enemies deeper and concentrating forces-remarkably intelligent for zombies.
According to ancient texts, a zombie’s intelligence matched its strength.
This indicated that these zombies were likely old and powerful ones with deep cultivation.
Typically, such formidable zombies were rare in any given place. Why were there so many here?
Though surprised and puzzled, Leo wasn’t afraid.
Having dealt with The Drought Zombie before, he doubted these zombies could be stronger.
He took out two talismans, ready to attack at any moment.
Just then, the zombie he had chased let out an angry roar as if signaling an attack.
Immediately, all surrounding zombies became enraged. They extended their arms menacingly and charged at Leo from all directions.
Leo sneered and raised his hands. “Inferno Strike!”
With a whoosh!
Two Firedrakes emerged from his hands amidst flashing firelight. With two clear dragon roars, they attacked the zombies.
Roar!
The zombies seemed intelligent. Seeing the Firedrakes approaching, they stopped abruptly and spewed foul-smelling black Death Reek from their mouths.
These Death Reeks twisted eerily in mid-air as if protecting charms for zombies, swiftly meeting the Firedrakes head-on.
