With those words, Spencer felt that the wedding would be easy to arrange. It was just a matter between him and Summer! No need for multiple opinions; this was the best way to handle it.
“Summer, do you have any thoughts about the wedding?” Spencer asked eagerly. “I think once we finish filming this series, we can start planning the wedding.”
“Okay,” Summer agreed without hesitation. “You handle it, I’ll go along with whatever you decide.”
“What do you think about a traditional wedding?” Spencer suddenly thought of it and smiled at her. “You look so beautiful; you’d look stunning in traditional attire. Besides, we’ve seen enough of white dresses and green lawns. I want our wedding to be more formal.”
“I think that’s a great idea!” Agnes chimed in enthusiastically.
“Why are you butting in? Your brother-in-law is asking your sister,” Mrs. Campell gently scolded.
Agnes quickly shut her mouth but pouted at her mother. “My sister’s thoughts are usually the same as mine!” Then she turned to ask, “Right, sis?”
“But she has to answer for herself; it’s her wedding!”
“Alright! I’ll keep quiet then!” Agnes popped a piece of cucumber into her mouth and smiled. “This cucumber is delicious. Did you buy it?”
“Your brother-in-law made it himself!” Spencer looked at his sister-in-law with a smile, then proudly patted his chest. “How about that? Should I set up a stall at the night market?”
Agnes looked at him in surprise and then nodded. “Impressive!” She gave him a thumbs-up. “Not bad! You haven’t even proposed yet, and you’re already in the kitchen. Looks like you’ve already won over my mom!”
“You can’t say it like that,” Spencer quickly explained. “It’s just that I’m thick-skinned. I’m not afraid of rejection. If Mom disagrees today, I’ll come back tomorrow. If she disagrees this year, I’ll come back next year! I’ll keep at it until she agrees! My determination to marry your sister is unwavering!”
Alright, enough with the declarations.
“I think a traditional wedding sounds good,” Summer said seriously, lifting her gaze to look at everyone before focusing on Spencer. “But wouldn’t it be more expensive?”
With that, she changed the subject.
“Do you think money is an issue for me?” Spencer asked with a smile and then raised his glass towards his future father-in-law. “Dad, thank you for raising such an outstanding daughter, so that I, Spencer, won’t be single for life.”
Agnes found this amusing. You? Single for life? Must be drunk!
But she didn’t interrupt; they were discussing her sister’s marriage.
“Summer’s future is in your hands now. Managing a marriage isn’t easy,” Mr. Campell said earnestly as he looked at his daughter and future son-in-law while holding his wine glass. “Money alone can’t ensure happiness in marriage. Everyone faces different challenges in marriage; it’s like an adventure. Those brave enough to enter marriage possess a spirit of adventure, which is commendable.”
The middle-aged man poured some wine into his glass and raised it high. “So here’s to you, Spencer. May you both walk hand in hand on this adventurous journey.”
“Thank you, Dad.”
Summer had grown up and was getting married. Although she wasn’t moving far away and was often busy with work anyway, marriage was still a significant step.
So Mrs. Campell felt a mix of emotions-blessings on one hand and reluctance on the other.
