Saisen walked with his arm on the shoulders of one of his twins, Leoxi. The wolf looked more like his mother than him. Rather, her two sons had the character of the mother. Neither had brought out their playful tempers. Maybe it was because their first five years had been raised alone with her, until he found them by chance. If that day had not passed, he would not have his beloved blessings with him.
His wife Celesia, was the strongest wolf he had ever met, had trained and taught him almost 90% of everything he knew. In times of war they had even ended up and both were enemies of different factions. But she was able to protect her cubs from harm. He loved her and respected her for it, more than the wolf imagined.
The two of them met their mother and brother talking in front of their room door. From the appearance of the alpha’s healed skin, especially on the neck, they realized that he had had too intense a moment. The marks on his back were still very visible.
-Alfa, ma, the herd has been evacuated successfully- Leoxi told them politely.
-Thank you brother- Hades was relieved knowing that he could fully trust him.
-But we have a problem- Saisen approached his brother -There are four rebellious puppies that will not go down there until their mother is with them and safe-
Hades sighed, he knew that not everything could be so easy. If they were Nebraska children, it was clear that they would be opposed to leaving without their mother. He would have to get tough on them. Later he would look for how to win them over again. Especially the two oldest who were the most stubborn and difficult to deal with.
Nebraska inside the room listened to everything. Her hearing was so sharp it was starting to get annoying. The words of those four wolves were spoken as if they were at his side. She opened her eyes and sat up on the bed. She felt that her body was full of life. Like never before.
Her blood was running hard inside her and exhaustion was a thing of the past. She looked around and had to drag her hair back and realized something new. It had grown a lot; reaching below the hip. So thick and shiny it was beauty. Apparently the blood of those alphas had not only increased her power but also revitalized her entire body.
The mention of her children made him look at the door. Rising from the bed she put on a suitable set of clothing with a speed that surprised her. She felt light, powerful. She smiled, it was a good feeling. She turned to the door and opened it seeing how the four wolves were still talking but they paid attention to him as soon as they noticed her presence.
Hades was quickly by her side raising his hand to her neck, impressed by how she looked.
-Nebraska, what happened in the minutes I left you alone? –
She smiled slightly at him and stood on tiptoe, kissing him on the cheek. Then she looked at the other three.
-Celesia, Saisen- she bowed her head slightly, although she was queen and her status was above them, she still owed her respect both for being her elders and for being her in-laws.
-You look beautiful- Celesia inclined her head -And powerful- a somewhat sadistic smile came from her lips -When all this is solved I would like to fight with you, I would like to check your skills-
-I recommend you not to do it- Saisen interrupted receiving a growl from his wife and moved away from her consequently- Hades, don’t do it if you don’t are of the matrimonial life; you know how your mother is-
The comment could make them smile if the moment weren’t so tense. Nebraska approached Leoxi.
-Take me to see my puppies- was the only thing she asked.
-Yes, queen,- he bowed sharply, still having a hard time looking directly at her face after what had happened.
The omega followed him, leaving Hades with his parents. They were planning the positions they would take and from the last she heard, Celessia would be in the front row with her son while Saisen would be protecting her. Apparently that wolf that did not look dangerous was more terrible than one could imagine.
They stopped in front of a door and Leoxi knocked.
-We will not leave without mom- Noa’s voice sounded from within. They had closed the door and were not letting anyone pass. They behaved childishly but she understood them, they were afraid of losing her too.
-I’m sorry queen, but this is what happens-
Nebraska stared at the door and just blinked slowly. She reached for the latch and just squeezed the handle. The wood around it cracked while the metal in the hand crumpled like a ball of paper. From within the latch clicked abruptly and the door opened slowly. The wolf opened her hand and shook it, dropping part of the disfigured handle.
Leoxi swallowed hard and did not dare to speak. Nebraska advanced and as soon as they saw her they ran towards her and Alan and Noa hugged her tightly.
-Ma, you want to separate us from you- the youngest of the brothers squeezed her arm.
Nicolas and Rodrigo did not copy them, but they stayed close, noticing the change in her appearance that, although it was not very marked, did not go unnoticed. The two youngest were too upset to notice.
-The situation is critical, it is necessary for you to take refuge-
-But ma, you should come with us, it’s not safe for you either,- Alan claimed.
Nebraska smiled at him and rubbed his head.
-I have things to do here, I can’t go with you-
Hearing that the two minors parted and their eyes were filled with concern.
-If you stay here, the chances of you dying are high,- Rodrigo said seriously.
-I will not die- she told them with her face full of confidence -But I need you to be safe, otherwise I can’t concentrate-
-But- Noa insisted.
-No buts- Nebraska was firm -You go with Leoxi, I have Hades and Siran to protect me- although she knew that right now she was stronger than all of them together -Understood? –
Rodrigo, Alan and Noa, lowered their heads, after all, their mother was asking for that and they could not refuse but Nicolas did not agree.
-Then let me stay with you,- he asked firmly.
-No-
-Ma, I can protect you too-
-No-
-I can’t come down and leave you here alone,- he insisted without giving in.
But Nebraska would not allow one of its children to take such risks. She approached Nicolas and hugged him, taking him by surprise.
-I’m sorry, you’ll understand later,- she whispered and immediately afterwards the wolf felt his legs become so weak that he had to drop his body on his mother before losing conscientiously. Before everything went black, he could see his mother’s two irisless golden orbs, those same eyes he had used that time to subdue.
Nicolas cursed but was totally unconscious. Leoxi was quickly by his queen’s side and held the young wolf next to Rodrigo, taking the extra weight off her.
-Leoxi, take care of them- Nebraska turned to her children with the orbs again of natural color, she did not want to scare them -Listen to him- she approached each one and left them a kiss on the forehead -Wait for me-
The cubs nodded reluctantly and followed the Commander with their heads lowered, but at least that gave her peace of mind. So she could focus on the battle to come. She left the room and stood in front of the window. The wind blew through her long hair and a foul smell came from far, far away but she knew it would soon be strong. The hour was near.
She put her hand to her flat stomach and felt. For other wolves it might be too early but her body already knew it.
-Now only you are missing, do not worry, I will protect you- she said to the life that was formed inside her.
