In Caesar’s eyes, this was already the biggest concession.
He never expected his son to be so “rebellious.” Even during his teenage years, his son never caused him any worry. But now, for the sake of Rosalind, he had truly shocked the entire Walters family!
Ulric did not respond to his father. He simply mentioned that he was about to board the plane and then hung up.
On the way back, he remained silent, his dark eyes fixed on the window. The air around him seemed to freeze, and no one knew what he was thinking.
…
As soon as the company’s announcement was released, the HR department contacted Rosalind directly.
“Miss Ruell, please come in within three days to complete your resignation procedures.”
“The reason you’re firing me is because, after your investigation, you concluded that I betrayed the company, correct?” Rosalind’s tone was firm, not at all like someone who had been caught doing something wrong and was being fired. In fact, her question left the HR representative somewhat lacking in confidence.
“This is a decision from above.”
She laughed. “Even if it’s from the chairman, there should be a definite reason for firing an employee. I signed a labor contract with Prosperity Holdings, you can’t just fire me without cause.”
“…Miss Ruell, haven’t you seen the announcement on the official website?”
“I have.”
Rosalind had seen it, which is why she was confirming it with HR.
She needed clear evidence.
If W Group could make her pack up and leave based on an uninvestigated “result,” then she could go to court to seek justice!
“If you’ve seen it, then don’t you know what you’ve done? The company firing you without suing for damages is already very lenient and merciful.” The HR representative’s words sounded like they were trying to persuade her, but they were full of sarcasm.
Rosalind knew that now the entire W Group was probably gossiping about her. Even those who didn’t say it out loud were likely thinking it.
“I don’t have time to argue with you. I’m just asking, is the reason for my dismissal because the investigation concluded that I betrayed the company?”
The HR representative got angry. “Yes! Do you realize how much trouble you’ve caused W Group, ”
Rosalind didn’t listen to the rest. She hung up the phone and saved the recording from her recorder.
Previously, she just wanted to clear her name and reveal Sirena’s framing of her. She never intended to go against the company. But now, Rosalind wouldn’t trust anyone anymore.
With everything prepared, Rosalind stood up to leave Tilda’s house. As soon as she opened the door, she saw Ulric… the W Group president who should have been in Fragrant Harbor for business, standing there looking travel-worn.
Their eyes met, one indifferent, one weary.
“Mr. Walters.”
With those words, Rosalind had already distanced their relationship by miles.
Ulric’s tall figure swayed slightly, his dark eyes filled with deep fatigue.
He stood at the corner of the stairs, half of his body engulfed in darkness, his gaze never wavering.
“Rosalind, I didn’t issue that announcement.”
“I know.”
She believed Ulric wasn’t shallow enough to play a double-faced game.
But she also knew that there was more than one barrier between her and Ulric.
“I came to take you home.” His next words didn’t continue discussing the company but instead extended a hand towards her.
Rosalind didn’t respond, her voice cold.
“I’m afraid I can’t go with you anymore.”
Ulric’s eyes narrowed. “What do you mean?”
“End the contract, Mr. Walters. I will prove Sirena’s framing in my own way.”
The implication: Don’t trouble yourself anymore.
