Mr. Walters was essentially using the interests of W Group to guarantee Rosalind.
Even if they were old classmates, was their friendship really that deep?
Ulric left the conference room, and his assistant was already waiting outside. “Mr. Walters, the flight tickets have been booked. The return ticket hasn’t been set yet. Once you’re done in Fragrant Harbor, just send me a message, and I’ll book it for you.”
“Alright.”
Ulric nodded and strode back to his office. As soon as he pushed the door open, he saw his mother sitting on the sofa, looking quite aggressive.
He turned his handsome face slightly and gave his assistant a look. The assistant quickly closed the door and left the office.
“Mom, is there something you need?”
“If I hadn’t returned to the country this time, were you planning on never telling me that you have another woman here?” Audrey got straight to the point. “The woman I saw yesterday isn’t just someone who cleans your house, she’s clearly your mistress!”
Ulric didn’t like the word “mistress” and frowned deeply.
“This is my business.”
“So you admit it?” Audrey stood up and walked over to him, scolding loudly, “Are you trying to drive me crazy? You already have a fiancee, and you’re still doing things that betray Sirena! Only Sirena could tolerate this and even try to cover for you!”
Faced with his mother’s accusations, Ulric showed little reaction beyond his initial frown.
He had anticipated this day would come and knew he would have to face it, but he hadn’t expected it so soon.
After a brief pause, Ulric walked behind his desk and sat down.
“Mom, I don’t have romantic feelings for Sirena.”
“Are you going to be a heartbreaker? Sirena has made significant contributions to our W Group. Even your father said that marrying her would greatly benefit your career! Besides, you’ve known each other since childhood. Sirena’s mother is also very close to your father. If you don’t marry her, who do you plan to marry? That house cleaner?”
Audrey grew increasingly angry, clutching her chest with her hand.
Her expression became more and more strained, as if she couldn’t breathe.
Seeing this, Ulric immediately got up to support her and shouted, “Call an ambulance!”
“I’m… I’m going to be driven mad by you…” Even in her condition, Audrey couldn’t stop being angry.
But her son refused to relent, only pressing his thin lips together tightly as he escorted her to the ambulance.
Fortunately, her heart condition wasn’t too severe, but there were signs of her depression relapsing.
On the way to the hospital, Ulric noticed his mother digging her nails into her palms so hard that she drew blood. He tried to pry her hands open, but it seemed like she was using all her strength in this act. He didn’t dare use too much force for fear of injuring her fingers.
This was how she behaved during depressive episodes, hurting herself in various ways like stabbing herself with a knife or banging her head against the wall.
Once they finally reached the hospital and she was taken into the emergency room, Ulric waited outside.
His phone suddenly chimed.
He looked down to see a message from Rosalind.
She rarely initiated contact with him, especially at such a time.
“Are you coming back tonight?”
“I don’t mean anything by it. I just wanted to say that if you’re not coming back, I’ll go to Tilda’s place.”
Ulric frowned deeply at the screen, feeling a severe headache.
This wasn’t how he had planned for Rosalind and his mother to meet. They hadn’t even been introduced yet, and his mother was already so opposed. How was he supposed to tell her that they were already married?
