Rosalind couldn’t be bothered with breakfast and headed straight to the hospital.
But this time, it was as if Mrs. Eva had prepared in advance, even planning the route!
“There is a small gate in our backyard. Every day around one in the afternoon, a gardener comes through to tend to the plants and trees, making a round before leaving. She escaped during this time.”
The hospital took this matter very seriously and quickly pulled up the surveillance footage.
The two bodyguards who were originally stationed at the door of the V1 ward were extremely nervous, fearing that Mr. Walters would blame them.
“This has nothing to do with you. It was my mother who wanted to leave,” Rosalind said, though worried and anxious, she didn’t want to implicate others.
If Miss Perkins wanted to escape, no one could stop her.
“What should we do now? Do we need to contact Mr. Walters?”
“No, don’t tell him,” Rosalind shook her head, not wanting to distract Ulric further.
She sat down and thought carefully. Her mother suddenly wanted to leave the hospital. Although her legs could move after the surgery, each step was still painful. In such a condition, she insisted on walking out, which meant there must be something outside she had to do.
What could it be…
Suddenly, Rosalind thought of Sirena!
Since she had come to Northville City, her mother might have returned too! Otherwise, who else could have passed notes to her mother and told her about selling her body for medical expenses?
Rosalind immediately found Sirena’s phone number and was about to call when she saw out of the corner of her eye that her mother had returned to the ward on her own!
“Mom!” she called out and quickly walked over to greet her.
Eva looked at her daughter as if she had been through some shock, staring blankly for a long time before speaking.
“Did they bully you?”
“… Who told you that? No! These people just want you to worry and get upset, leading to heart problems!”
But Eva stubbornly looked at her and then took out a video.
Rosalind’s heart sank when she saw it.
It was a video of people gossiping behind her back at the company, recorded by someone with ill intentions and sent specifically to her mother.
“Don’t listen to them. The company will make its own judgments. I didn’t even care.”
“Is this the work of that pair of vixen mother and daughter?”
“No, it’s just simple friction between colleagues.”
“Rosalind, I have seen that woman,” Eva suddenly said, “and I have seen her daughter too.”
Rosalind was stunned.
“When you asked me that day, I already sensed something was wrong! Don’t hide it from me.” Eva had gone out specifically to see who this Sirena was and whether she was the daughter of that woman from years ago.
At first glance, Eva was certain!
Rosalind felt a headache coming on and helped her mother back to the bed.
“Mom, no matter what happens now, you should think about not letting these things affect your mood. Just pretend you didn’t see them! I can handle it myself.”
“They bullied me back then, and now they are bullying my daughter. If I endure this any longer, I don’t deserve to be your mother!” Eva thought for a moment and then looked up at her daughter. “Rosalind, can you find me a TV station with influence? I’ve decided to expose everything!”
