Rosalind nodded like a pecking chick and softly responded with a hum.
“…”
“Don’t be mad, it looks the same to me now!” She noticed Ulric’s handsome face stiffen and thought he was getting angry, so she quickly tried to read the rest of the letter.
Suddenly!
Ulric’s slender fingers swept in and snatched the letter away!
“Better not read it.”
“Why?”
“No reason.” The youthful and awkward writing from his younger days was something he couldn’t bear to look at now, let alone have Rosalind read it right in front of him!
Rosalind was confused by his actions, giving her the letter one moment and taking it away the next.
Suddenly.
She thought of something.
“You said the letter was for me, so why did you write about knowing the secret of 0825? What’s the secret of 0825?”
What did these numbers have to do with her?
She had always thought they represented Sirena, and that this envelope was written for Sirena by Ulric.
“I’ll tell you on August 25th next year.”
He had planned to tell her this year but missed the chance.
“…”
“I’m tired, let’s rest.” Ulric quickly left the study.
Rosalind keenly noticed that his ears had turned red!
Wait, that wasn’t the point.
“Hey, don’t leave your sentences half-finished!”
Ulric didn’t explain what 0825 meant, but that night, he was more intense than ever, sometimes fierce, sometimes gently caressing her, with soft sighs escaping from behind.
In a daze, Rosalind could still see the tattoo on his chest. She asked with a voice broken by their movements, “Sirena… when is her birthday…”
“How would I know.”
“Isn’t it August 25th?”
His handsome face pressed down, biting her lip as if in punishment, “If you were curious, you should have asked me earlier.”
The fact that she could ask this question now proved that she had cared!
Ulric felt both happy and helpless.
Rosalind’s eyes clearly showed disbelief, as if he had overturned many of her beliefs today.
Afraid of getting more upset, he lowered his head to seal her lips with his own, his hands gripping tighter, as if wanting to merge her into his body.
…
The consequence of an indulgent night was that Rosalind almost couldn’t get out of bed!
She walked to the dining room with small steps, holding her waist. Breakfast was still on the table, along with a note from him.
[My mom won’t come again, you can sleep a bit longer.] Signed: Ulric.
She pulled out a chair and sat down, looking at the breakfast Ulric had carefully prepared, her mind still in a fog.
Did he mean that… he had liked her since middle school? And all this 0825 stuff was related to her, not Sirena?
Each revelation made Rosalind almost believe last night was just a fantasy!
She raised her hand to pat her forehead when suddenly, her phone rang beside her.
Seeing it was from the hospital, for some reason, her heart sank.
“Is this Miss Ruell? Something’s wrong! Your mother is missing! She said she wanted to take a walk in the hospital’s back garden. After that, she said she needed to use the restroom. The caregiver waited outside for a while but didn’t see her come out. When they went in to check, she wasn’t in the restroom!”
Rosalind’s mind went blank. She stood up from the chair abruptly, hitting the table corner.
“I’m coming right now. Call the police first!”
“We already did. Please hurry over!”
