Looking up, she saw so many floors that she couldn’t see the top.
No wonder Phoenix Alliance Group was seen as a business empire-it was incredibly luxurious!
Bianca had seen a lot in her life, but this place made her feel incredibly small, like an ant compared to those who worked here.
The lobby was bustling with men and women in corporate attire, each with a serious, businesslike attitude. These were clearly the elite of society.
Bianca looked around her surroundings and wondered about the person leading this impressive empire.
Who exactly was the CEO of Phoenix Alliance Group?
Taking a deep breath, Bianca gathered her courage and approached the front desk. There were more than a dozen receptionists there-some were answering phones, while others were helping visitors. Bianca had to wait her turn at the back of the line.
After what felt like a long wait, it was finally her turn. She walked up to the desk and was greeted politely by a receptionist.
“Hello, miss. How can I help you?”
“Hi, I’d like to know who is handling Cherish’s acquisition. I want to make an appointment with them.”
“Okay, please hold on a moment.”
With a professional smile, the receptionist quickly dialed a number. After checking, she put the phone down and gave Bianca an apologetic look. “I’m sorry, but there’s no news about our company acquiring Cherish.”
No news? Bianca frowned.
Was it really just an Internet rumor? The news article had seemed credible. What was going on?
While Bianca was pondering this, she noticed a familiar figure in the distance.
A tall, well-dressed man entered the VIP elevator, surrounded by several bodyguards. Before she could get a good look at him, the elevator doors closed, and he was gone from her sight.
Bianca thought the man looked strikingly familiar for some reason-he had the same build as Dave.
She quickly dismissed the thought. Although Dave was very handsome, it was unlikely he would be here with so many bodyguards.
Just then, the phone in front of the receptionist rang. After answering, the receptionist looked at Bianca with surprise. “Excuse me, miss. I just learned that the acquisition of Cherish is still in the proposal stage. The CEO brought it up with the board, but the details haven’t been decided yet. Perhaps you should come back in a few days?”
Bianca’s expression turned serious. She knew that if the CEO of Phoenix Alliance Group were involved, meeting with the other executives wouldn’t help if she couldn’t persuade the CEO directly.
But what if…
“Would it be possible to set up an appointment with the CEO?”
It would be more effective to speak directly with the top executive.
The receptionist looked surprised by Bianca’s request but remained professional.
“I’m sorry, miss,” she said with a polite smile. “The CEO never meets with guests.”
Bianca thought this was odd. How could the CEO of a major company like Phoenix Alliance Group never see guests? Or was it possible that the receptionist was just reluctant to make an appointment for her, perhaps because she was not well-known?
Bianca thought it made sense. A CEO of such a large company likely had their own secretary or assistant, and the receptionist might not have the authority to schedule appointments. However, the receptionist’s response still felt a bit dismissive.
“Then… How can I meet the CEO?” Bianca asked, still wanting to meet the mysterious boss.
The receptionist only gave Bianca an ambiguous smile.
Before Bianca could figure out the meaning behind that smile, a familiar feminine voice came from behind her.
“Bianca, is that you?”
Startled, Bianca turned around and saw a pretty woman in bright clothes and big sunglasses standing behind her.
‘Natalie? What was she doing here?’
Even though Bianca had issues with Natalie, they both preferred to act as if everything was fine to avoid reputation damage.
“Miss King, what a coincidence,” Bianca said with a smile, though it was a bit stiff.
“What a small world indeed!” Natalie laughed, her red lips sparkling under the lights. “Are you here to see him?”
“Him?” Bianca wondered if Natalie knew about Phoenix Alliance Group’s plan to buy Cherish.
Natalie looked Bianca up and down, noticing her genuine confusion.
With one eyebrow raised, Natalie asked, “Are you here to see the CEO of Phoenix Alliance Group?”
This made Bianca even more confused. “How do you know? Are you here to see him, too?”
Instead of answering, Natalie leaned in and asked, “Do you even know the CEO’s last name?”
Bianca furrowed her brows, puzzled.
Seeing Bianca’s reaction, Natalie couldn’t help but laugh. “You came here without even knowing his name? Bianca, you should really find out before coming back.”
Bianca frowned, feeling annoyed. It wasn’t that she hadn’t done her research; she had looked up Phoenix Alliance Group online before coming, but the CEO was so mysterious that there was hardly any personal information about him.
She had rushed here because her mother’s brand was at risk of being acquired.
But now that she thought about it, Bianca calmed down. She remembered that she had connections that could help her.
Justin, the general manager of Phoenix Entertainment, was also the vice president of the Phoenix Alliance Group.
Bianca didn’t want to waste her time on Natalie, so she gave her a brief smile and turned to leave.
Natalie, angered by being ignored, raised her voice. “The CEO’s last name is Evans! And your boyfriend’s last name is Evans, too, right?”
Bianca stopped in her tracks.
She turned to look at Natalie over her shoulder and asked coolly, “So?”
Natalie smiled slyly. “Oh, nothing. I was just thinking that since your boyfriend shares the same last name as the CEO of Phoenix Alliance Group, maybe he’s part of the wealthy Evans family. That would explain how you’ve achieved so much in less than a year as a new agent. Your little boyfriend must be supporting you, right? Why pretend to work hard? It’s honestly laughable.”
Natalie thought she had made a strong point, but Bianca just burst into laughter.
“What are you laughing at?” Natalie asked irritably, her expression suddenly pale.
‘Was she right? Was Bianca’s boyfriend actually connected to the Evans family?’
It took a moment for Bianca to calm down. “Miss King, I’m laughing at your wild imagination. There are many people in the world with the last name Evans. Do you really think they’re all part of Edenfield’s Evans family? If I were connected to them, do you think I’d even be talking to you? With their power, I’d have you blacklisted from the entertainment industry, not standing here mocking me.”
