Jay Park turned his head and gave a signal to Sang Kwon, who understood immediately. He took out an exquisitely crafted red invitation letter from the briefcase under his arm and handed it to Leo.
“Mr. Bloomer, this is an invitation from the Korean Medical Research Society. You just need to sign your name, and you will be one of us,” Sang Kwon said proudly.
Leo didn’t bother to look at the invitation in Sang Kwon’s hand. He glanced at Jay Park and Sang Kwon with a look of disdain and said playfully, “Are you two out of your minds? Why would I join your Medical Research Society?”
Jay Park, full of pride, explained, “Mr. Bloomer, my master has spoken. If you join the Korean Medical Research Society, not only will you receive top-tier treatment, but you will also get a green card for our country, making you one of us. We will meet all your needs.”
“I was born an Atrarian and will die an Atrarian. Lowering myself to become a citizen of a small country like yours is laughable,” Leo said, finding the situation absurd. These two Koreans were overestimating themselves by trying to recruit him.
Leo’s words turned the pride on Sang Kwon’s face into anger. “Joining our nationality is a great honor for you. Do you know how many people in the world want to become citizens of our country but can’t?”
In Sang Kwon’s view, their country’s nationality was far more prestigious than Atraria’s.
“Mr. Bloomer, such a good opportunity is in front of you. I think you should cherish it instead of being ungrateful,” Jay Park said, still smiling.
From their interaction at the seminar, he knew Leo wouldn’t easily submit.
“I like being ungrateful. You can leave now,” Leo said impatiently, waving his hand.
Jay Park took out his phone, opened the photo album, found a picture, and showed it to Leo. “Mr. Bloomer, don’t be in a hurry to dismiss us. Look at this photo.”
Leo glanced down and saw the picture on the phone screen. His eyes narrowed as he blurted out, “Is this… the Bronze Acupuncture Figure?”
The photo showed a bronze figure with various acupuncture points marked on it, each labeled with corresponding symbols.
The Bronze Acupuncture Figure was a teaching model for acupuncture, designed by Wayne Wang in the Middle Ages to improve acupuncture education.
It served as both a teaching tool and a model for assessing acupuncturists. During exams, wax was applied to the surface of the bronze figure, and mercury was injected inside. If the examinee correctly located the acupuncture points, the needle would penetrate and release mercury; if not, the needle wouldn’t go in.
Two Bronze Acupuncture Figures were cast, but both were lost due to war. Since then, numerous official and personal replicas have been made.
Over two thousand years ago, Atraria’s earliest traditional medicine text, “The Emperor’s Inner Canon,” introduced the concept of meridians. This formed the basis of ancient Atrarian acupuncture techniques.
Practicing acupuncture required following the correct meridian points on the human body. Initially, traditional medicine relied on books and diagrams to learn these points, which were inconvenient and prone to errors.
The Bronze Acupuncture Figure emerged to address this need.
“Is this the real Bronze Acupuncture Figure?” Leo asked after recovering from his surprise.
Jay Park smiled. “Yes, it’s genuine. Your traditional Atrarian doctors have been searching for it, haven’t they?”
The loss of the Bronze Acupuncture Figure was indeed a significant blow to traditional Atrarian doctors.
Leo couldn’t believe it had ended up in Korean hands.
“How did you get the Bronze Acupuncture Figure? And where is the other one?” Leo asked coldly.
Jay Park replied smugly, “How we got it is confidential, and I don’t know where the other one is. Our Korean Kingdom has only this one, managed by my master Seung Kim.”
“I spoke with my master yesterday. He said if you join our nationality and work for our research society, he might consider giving you this Bronze Acupuncture Figure.”
“Mr. Bloomer, since you are a traditional doctor, you should understand what this medieval Bronze Acupuncture Figure means to traditional Atrarian doctors.”
Seeing his country’s national treasure in foreign hands made Leo unhappy.
Sang Kwon added eagerly, “Leo, join us and dominate the medical world with my master. Doesn’t that sound appealing?”
Sang Kwon had never seen someone as ungrateful as Leo. Many renowned doctors wanted to collaborate with his master but were turned away.
Leo sneered, “Tell your master that he is not worthy of working with me. Get out!”
“You…!” Jay Park’s smile vanished completely.
Sang Kwon shouted angrily, “Leo, don’t be so arrogant! When my master comes to Atraria, you won’t know how you’ll die!”
“I’ll say it again: get out! If you don’t leave now, don’t blame me for throwing you out!” Leo said as Chasel stepped forward, muscles bulging.
Recalling the terrifying Silver Needle Acupoint Therapy Leo used at the seminar and seeing the muscular man before them, Jay Park and Sang Kwon exchanged glances and left the clinic with a cold snort.
As they left, Sang Kwon threw back a parting shot: “Leo, just wait. This isn’t over!”
Leo didn’t take their threats seriously at all. As a Cultivator, why would he fear two Koreans?
After leaving the clinic, Leo drove to Henley’s Corp to pick up Sophia from work.
On the way, he called Chloe to ask if she had left for Black Tiger Mountain but couldn’t reach her.
The next morning, Leo went back to Spirit Moon Antiques on Antique Street.
He noticed that advertisements for Bonham Auction House’s upcoming auction at Spring Dawn Garden were posted everywhere.
Seeing Leo arrive, Christine asked anxiously, “Leo, do you have any news about the Western Xia treasure?”
Leo shook his head. He still couldn’t contact Chloe and had no information about the treasure.
Seeing the twin sisters worried about the upcoming Spring Dawn Garden auction gave Leo an idea.
