Rosiley looked at Ying Xiaoxiao throwing a fit, threw her an angry glance, and said, “It’s very obvious to me.”
“Okay.” Ying Xiaoxiao pouted. “I used to know him a long time ago, and he’s… the son of my father’s friend.”
“I think there’s more than that.” If that was all to their relationship, would she need to speak so rudely to him?
Ying Xiaoxiao pursed her lips tightly and looked at Corey. She pondered for a moment before saying, “He’s my ex-boyfriend.”
“Ex-boyfriend?!” Rosiley exclaimed in surprise. This explained Xiaoxiao’s horrible attitude towards him.
Corey lost control and laughed out loud. “Well damn, I guessed right.”
Ying Xiaoxiao frowned. “What were you thinking?”
“I thought there must have been some emotional dispute between the two of you, for you to treat Steven Song like that. Otherwise, a woman would never treat a man that way.” Corey spread out his hands. “I didn’t expect myself to have guessed right. I’m such a genius.”
Ying Xiaoxiao’s expression froze, and a tinge of fury flashed across her eyes. She glared at him hatefully. “Yes, you’re a genius. An absolute genius.”
Corey rubbed his nose, puzzled. He looked at Rosiley in bewilderment. “sister-in-law, how have I made her angry?”
Rosiley smiled and asked, “When did you have a relationship with Steven Song? Why didn’t I know about it?
She had known Xiaoxiao for years, and she knew how many boyfriends she had, yet she had not heard about Steven Song.
Was it during the three years she was abroad?
“He was my boyfriend when I was abroad.”
Ying Xiaoxiao’s answer confirmed Rosiley’s guess.
“Then why did you two break up?”
Steven Song did not look too bad, and he was the type Xiaoxiao liked, so why had they broken up? Even though they had broken up, Xiaoxiao was still treating him like an arch-enemy.
“We aren’t suited to each other.” Ying Xiaoxiao gave a casual answer.
The words “not suited to each other” contained too many unspecified details, but she seemed unwilling to share them. Rosiley did not pursue the question. She merely smiled and teased her. “Xiaoxiao, he deliberately went on a blind date with you. It means that he still has feelings for you.”
“Ptooey!” Ying Xiaoxiao spat, her face full of disdain. “Feelings for me my foot! He just finds my family rich and wants to patch things up with me.”
When she heard this, Rosiley could not help but laugh. “Xiaoxiao, you must have read too many novels, or watched too much TV. How could Steven Song be such a person?”
How could a man as gentle and amiable as Steven Song be a schemer?
“Don’t judge a book by its cover, you understand?” Ying Xiaoxiao snorted coldly.
“He’s a professor from abroad specially engaged by the National Academy of Medical Sciences, right?” Corey said suddenly.
“How did you know?” Ying Xiaoxiao looked at him suspiciously. “Have you checked up on him?”
Corey did not answer her. Instead, he turned to Rosiley and asked, “sister-in-law, do you remember what my big brother said to you about the American medical research center?”
Rosiley nodded. “I do.”
“When I was investigating it, I saw the name “Steven Song” on the list of research center personnel. I was very curious to find a Chinese name there, so… ”
He paused a moment. “I specifically investigated him. When I saw him today, I found him very familiar. When he gave his name, I recalled that he was a member of the American medical research center.”
“Could you have remembered incorrectly?” Rosiley thought that the research center was developing illegal drugs, some of which might even cause death. Steven Song did not seem like he would conduct such research.
