Chloe was taken aback, not expecting Leo’s request to be so simple.
“Sure, but what do you need the list for?”
“That’s a trade secret,” Leo replied with a mysterious smile. “Just make sure to send it to me as quickly as possible, okay?”
Chloe nodded and returned to the control panel, using the mechanical arm to roll up the map and wrap it in a special thin film.
After safely storing the map, Chloe took out the dagger. Out of curiosity, she raised the dagger and squinted through the hollow in the handle.
Leo had lost interest in the dagger, his gaze now focused on Chloe’s curvaceous body. She was only wearing a thin nightgown, making it hard for him not to look.
Suddenly, Chloe screamed, covering her eyes and crouching down. The dagger fell to the ground.
“What happened?” Leo rushed to her side.
“My face! My face!” Chloe cried, her eyes tightly shut.
Leo moved her hand away and saw a fine layer of black dust on her face. Her eyes were still closed, and her long eyelashes fluttered like butterfly wings.
“Are your eyes okay?”
“My face! My face!” Chloe repeated, ignoring his question.
Sensing something was wrong, Leo quickly pulled her up and grabbed an eye wash station from the workbench, spraying her face with water.
The water hit Chloe’s face, and she frantically rubbed her cheeks, fearing any marks would remain.
“Hey, don’t just wash your face! Open your eyes!” Leo was exasperated by her vanity.
Chloe finally opened her eyes, allowing Leo to rinse them thoroughly.
After five minutes, Chloe stood before Leo with red and swollen eyes. She kept pushing her face closer to him. “Check if there are any scars on my face.”
Leo was more concerned about her eyes. Her eye sockets were red, and her eyeballs were filled with lightning-like blood vessels. Thankfully, there were no other major issues. Her face only had faint red marks from the cold water.
“It’s fine, it’s fine…” Leo’s expression turned strange.
“What is it?” Chloe asked, still unaware.
She didn’t realize how alluring she looked with her wet silk nightgown clinging to her body, revealing glimpses of her skin.
Leo wanted to pinch his thigh to stay focused. “Alright, put on a coat first. I’ll take you home to change clothes and then go to the hospital.”
Hearing “clothes,” Chloe looked down and finally understood. Her face turned crimson as she bit her lip.
Leo suddenly remembered a poem: “Like a lotus flower in water, too shy for the cool breeze.”
He quickly handed her a coat. They tidied up the messy lab, secured the dagger, and left.
After a hospital check-up, Chloe’s cornea had minor damage. The doctor prescribed several eye drops and advised her to use them daily to avoid permanent damage.
Chloe returned with a bunch of eye drops, pouting angrily. She was upset because the doctor spent little time examining her facial injuries and focused on her eyes instead.
Leo could only chuckle at her reaction. Despite being a scientist, Chloe was still a woman who cared about her appearance first.
After dropping Chloe home, Leo didn’t stay long. He didn’t want to risk doing something impulsive due to their isolation and her nightgown.
Back in his car, Leo took a deep breath, recalling Chloe’s figure. He shook his head vigorously to clear his thoughts and began planning his next steps.
Leo’s idea was to use the artifacts unearthed from the treasure trove to help Arlene and her sister acquire similar low-cost antiques and then hype them up.
Leo knew that such large-scale archaeological discoveries were rare and would likely boost the market for some time.
He called Arlene, advising her to purchase more antiques related to Western Xia in the near future.
Shortly after returning to the clinic, Rosemary’s grandfather, Dr. Rudolph, arrived.
In the clinic’s reception room, after Sakura served tea, Dr. Rudolph got straight to the point. “Leo, are you free the day after tomorrow? Can you help me with something?”
“The day after tomorrow?” Leo thought for a moment. “I don’t have anything planned. What do you need?”
“The capital Traditional Medicine University is hosting a TCM seminar at 2 PM to promote traditional medicine.”
“They invited me as a special guest, but I have family matters that day. I’d like you to attend as my replacement,” Dr. Rudolph explained.
Leo smiled wryly. “Dr. Rudolph, they invited you specifically. Isn’t it inappropriate for me to go instead?”
“Leo, your expertise in TCM surpasses mine. You’re the perfect person for this role.”
“I’ve already informed President Ty Chan of the university about you. He’s heard of your reputation and has no objections to you attending as my replacement.”
With the matter laid out so clearly, Leo couldn’t refuse without seeming ungracious. He agreed reluctantly but was happy to promote TCM.
After seeing Dr. Rudolph off, Leo drove to Henley’s Corp at 5:30 PM. He picked up Sophia, and they had lunch together before watching a movie.
When Sophia asked when he would move back to Cloud Dream Mountain Villa, Leo told her about his trip to the capital and promised to move back after returning.
Early the next morning, Leo went to the airport and flew to the capital. Although he could fly with his sword like running, it consumed physical strength and Spiritual Power. Flying commercially was more comfortable and less troublesome.
The capital Traditional Medicine University had over a hundred years of history and was Atraria’s premier TCM institution.
The main gate was grand and imposing, with a banner reading: “Warmly Celebrating the Grand Opening of the 8th Atraria TCM Seminar at Our University!”
