Nelson put down his cup. “Come in.”
Cora strode closer and leaned in to whisper in his ear, but he stopped her. “We’re all family here. Whatever you can tell me, you can tell my uncles as well.”
“Alayah has infiltrated. How should we handle it?”
A minor issue.
Nelson glanced at Cora meaningfully, causing her to instinctively flinch.
Today, with so many people from the Oconnor Group present, it was inevitable that some unsavory characters would slip in.
Lance Lee finally escaped his father and rushed out. He was curious to see just how wealthy the Oconnor Group really was.
His surname was Lee, yes, the same Lee family from Ylosea City, whose deputy director was Semaj Lee. They had been nearly ruined by Nelson’s machinations behind the scenes. Lance was also the young man who had insulted and even hit Callie on the street.
The Lee family had undergone a thorough investigation. Semaj Lee’s position had been demoted several levels, and he was currently suspended for reflection. If it weren’t for the old man at the top protecting them, he would likely be serving time in prison.
Although Lance hadn’t been disciplined, he was now infamous online. The family’s decline led to his friends distancing themselves, and everyone knew he had angered Nelson.
Lance only learned later that the man was actually Nelson. Today, he had managed to get an invitation through Semaj’s efforts, hoping to find a chance to apologize to Nelson and plead for leniency for the Lee family.
Lance was indifferent. Rumor had it that Nelson was married. That woman from that day must have been a mistress, right? She looked so plain; there was no way she could enter the Oconnor family.
Thinking this way, his gaze fell on a woman sitting on the steps, and he flashed a greasy smile.
“Hey beautiful, alone?” A hand landed on Callie’s shoulder. The unfamiliar touch made her frown. Before she could turn around, she heard the next line: “Can I get your WeChat?”
Lance was notorious in his circle for his love of women. In the past, with his family’s wealth and power, women would flock to him at his slightest advance.
That habit hadn’t changed.
Callie turned around, and he was stunned. He hadn’t expected to see that face again!
“Damn!” Lance recoiled as if he’d seen a ghost, eyes wide open. Then he spat twice and cursed, “You shrew! What are you doing here? What bad luck.”
Callie was puzzled at first but then recognized him in the light. Realizing who he was, she let out a cold laugh. It seemed fate had brought them together again tonight.
“I should be asking you that. You better leave now before I call security.”
She remembered the humiliation from that day and was genuinely angry.
Lance spat on the ground again, equally furious. Thinking about the recent misfortunes of the Lee family made him want to tear this woman apart.
“Leave?” He sneered and approached her casually. Callie took a few steps back, her face turning cold. “Try touching me.”
Lance let out a mocking “Oh,” and brazenly provocatively lifted her chin. “I touched you. So what?”
“Go ahead, call Nelson. Let’s see if he still listens to you. Aren’t you so arrogant? Now that Nelson is married, you’re a leftover. Feeling desperate?”
His words were utterly vile.
Callie felt nauseous and tried to push him away. “Get lost!”
