Mya nodded, then asked, “By the way, is Mr. Scott home? I’d like to-”
Before she could finish, Leah quickly interrupted, “My brother-in-law isn’t home! Did my brother-in-law buy this?”
Brother-in-law!
Mya’s heart skipped a beat. He was married?
She could hardly believe it. That guy was actually married!
“Mom, look! Kayden really bought a villa!” Leah, having seen the purchase contract, excitedly turned and darted into the house, leaving Mya stranded at the doorstep.
Mya peered inside helplessly, then turned and left, crestfallen.
Scarlett, who was cooking, heard her daughter’s shout and came over asking, “What’s all the fuss about?”
“Look, my brother-in-law really bought a villa!” She handed the contract to Scarlett.
Scarlett wiped her hands and looked at the contract, her face blooming into a smile as she read.
“I told you, Tony is so thoughtful! As soon as he heard about Sheldon, he immediately showed his determination. It’s good to have a few people pursuing your sister. That way, he knows to step up his game.”
Hearing this, Leah protested, “What are you talking about? Kayden bought this. Last night he said he had a lot of money, so I told him to buy the villa in the south of the city, and today he did. How would Tony know what we talked about?”
“Nonsense!” Scarlett refused to believe this was Kayden’s doing. She retorted, “Do you think I don’t know what that silly boy is capable of? This villa is worth over 80 million, almost 100 million. How could Kayden have that kind of money? This is clearly bought by Tony. I sent him a text last night, and I didn’t expect him to act so quickly.”
“What?” Leah looked at Scarlett, bewildered.
Scarlett chuckled and explained, “Actually, I was just joking. I casually asked Tony when he planned to marry my daughter. I mentioned that Sheldon had already proposed and said he’d buy my daughter a villa in the south of the city. He didn’t reply, but who knew he’d just go ahead and buy it today? It’s good to be rich. I think Tony is the most suitable candidate.”
“Mom, how can you be so greedy!” Leah couldn’t bear her mother’s behavior, only able to describe it as “greedy.”
However, Scarlett snorted disdainfully, saying with nonchalance, “What do you know! Do you think I don’t know my daughter’s worth? Listen carefully, in the future, you must find someone worth at least one billion. Only such a person will know how to cherish you.”
Leah rolled her eyes, saying scornfully, “I think Kayden is just fine.”
Just then, the door opened, and Georgia walked in.
Scarlett hurriedly took the contract and went to show off, telling Georgia about the text she sent last night.
“Georgia, we’re going to move into a villa, leaving this place we’ve lived in for years. I’ll miss it, but I do prefer spacious rooms.”
Georgia snatched the contract and yelled at Scarlett, “Move where? I didn’t agree to accept his gift! No one is allowed to live there! I’m going to return this.”
This was the first time she had ever yelled at Scarlett, shocking even Scarlett herself.
With the contract and keys in hand, Georgia ignored Scarlett and Leah, storming into her room.
That evening, Kayden was arranged to stay in a high-end apartment. Sariah had taken him to three different places before deciding on this one. It was just a luxury apartment, not as grand as the two villas they’d seen earlier.
Kayden had rejected the previous two villas because they were unfavorable for his injuries, with poor location. This place, however, wouldn’t affect his injuries and might even be beneficial.
Even though it was just a luxury apartment, with only two units per floor, Kayden insisted on staying here.
Originally, Kayden was supposed to visit the Henderson family patriarch, but Wood said Old Mr. Henderson had gone to Zlando and wouldn’t be back for three days. So, he could only focus on his other two tasks: finding Professor Flores and Israel.
He planned to find Israel tomorrow, and then visit Professor Flores at Inassea University after that.
How did Israel get the Grievance? Did he meet Liam, or was it someone else?
Tomorrow, all these questions would be answered! For now, he needed to rest.
As he slumped on the sofa, his phone rang. Kayden looked at it-an unknown number.
He hesitated instinctively, then answered.
There was a moment of silence on the other end, and Kayden didn’t speak either. He usually didn’t speak first, preferring to let the other person start.
It was a habit he’d developed on the battlefield – don’t move if the enemy doesn’t move. Whoever moves first exposes their weakness.
The silence was gradually broken by a choking sound, followed by a hoarse voice. “Are you… are you Kayden?”
“Yes, who is this?” Kayden asked coldly, his eyes suddenly sharp and icy.
“Kayden, it’s me, it’s Grandpa!” The voice on the other end sounded strained, as if each word was spoken with great effort.
Hearing this, Kayden didn’t feel happy about the call from a family member. On the contrary, his already sharp and cold gaze became even more ruthless.
“I’m sorry, I don’t have a grandfather. I’m an orphan!” With that, he hung up. Immediately after, there was a cracking sound as the phone in his hand shattered, its pieces scattering on the floor.
Kayden’s lips twitched violently for a moment, then he slowly walked towards the balcony. His previously decent mood had been completely ruined by this unexpected call.
He walked onto the balcony, where a gentle breeze instantly cleared his head.
This was a scenic apartment halfway up a mountain, a luxurious residence. Though not as high-end as a villa, it was quite nice overall.
Compared to sleeping rough on the battlefield, Kayden’s current situation was much better.
He placed his hands on the railing, gazing down at the mountain. As far as the eye could see, neon lights flickered below, with towering buildings rising from the ground, each housing a warm family.
Seeing this scene, Kayden smiled slightly. Perhaps this was why he protected Seclela.
Seeing everyone living safely and happily was enough for him.
What did home mean to Kayden? And where was his home?
The hell?
No, he didn’t even want to think about that detestable place!
