Feeling At Peace

Wayne looked down at Olive as they took the turn leading away from the doorway of the boardroom. She exhaled in relief and held on to his torso for support as she let herself off of the burden on her shoulders.
“Hey, hey, careful there,” Wayne said and hugged her.
She exhaled and hugged his waist. Wayne placed a kiss on her forehead and chuckled deeply.
“You were great, baby,” he said and she looked up at his face.
“Could not have done it if you were not sitting there,” she replied and he smirked.
“I don’t believe,” he whispered and she laughed.
“You were great, baby,” Shem chipped in with a proud smile. Wayne tore him a look and he raised a brow at his elder brother.
“What? You don’t by any means think she’s your baby alone, do you?” he questioned and everyone else laughed except Wayne.
“I’m in a good mood tonight,” Wayne simply stated and began to walk forward while grabbing on to Olive’s waist.
“Aren’t we all,” Jericho teased and they all laughed again.
The men began to talk amongst themselves as they walked through the doorway, heading to the Alpha’s quarters. They were mostly talking about the way Olive served a hot dish to Gia and her associates.
They reached the entrance of the Alpha’s quarters and stopped.
“There is going to be a little celebration tonight for our victory. So everyone, we meet at The Valor House in an hour’s time,” Wayne announced.
“Whoooo!” the men cheered and Jericho and Shem even gave each other a fist bump.
Olive smiled as they left the guys and entered their quarters.
“You did really great tonight. I can’t explain how proud of you I am,” Wayne stated proudly as he held Olive’s shoulder and walked her towards their bedroom.
“Thank you, Waynie,” she appreciated and leaned her head on his shoulder.
“So, now you can relax your mind about you and I not getting mated,” he replied and she laughed.
“Yeah. I feel at peace now. But Waynie, why didn’t you tell me you were planning to upload that interview video too?”
“So it would surprise you,” he answered with a smirk.
“Seriously? You could have just let me know about it. I was so surprised earlier when you texted me in the boardroom that the interview video was also uploaded alongside the other things you planned to initially upload,” she pouted at him. While they had sat down at the table earlier, Olive received a short text in her phone from ‘Waynie’ that the interview video was also uploaded. She was so surprised but she didn’t show it because they were already in front of their opposition party.
“I’m sorry for not letting you know, baby. It was supposed to be a surprise you know.”
“Well, you did what was best. I’m glad everything turned out fine. I love you, Waynie.” She lifted up her face to his lips and placed a small kiss there. He smiled and opened the door to their bedroom.
They entered and as she wanted to move forward into the room, he grabbed her arm and pulled her to himself. She yelped as he did so but was silent when his lips captured hers in a swift motion. She moaned and held onto his arms tightly, savoring the sweet flavor of their lips rubbing together.
Wayne lifted her up and turned around, making her squeal and grab his arm tightly. He dropped her and she giggled and hugged him.
“Need a drink to celebrate?” he asked while looking at her lovingly.
“Thought we were going out later?”
“Not the drink with the guys, Olive. I mean the drink with me, your mate,” Wayne replied with a scowl on his face. Olive smiled and jokingly slapped his cheeks.
“Sure thing, baby. So what are we having?” she asked as she walked towards her vanity to drop her bag.
“Some chilled orange juice,” Wayne answered. She stopped walking and turned around to look at him.
“Seriously. Orange juice,” she said with a sarcastic tone.
“Don’t use that tone when talking about orange juice. Now, pull those heels off and come let’s have a drink,” he ordered and walked to the bar. Olive rolled her eyes then slumped her shoulders.
“Fine. I’ll be back in a few minutes,” she said and made for the dressing room instead. She entered and removed her heels, kept them on her shoe rack then removed her suit and pants. She was standing in her undies when her eyes moved to the bags they had brought from Lumpusberg. She had instructed the servants who helped them unpack not to touch those ones as she would do the unpacking herself.
But most of the things inside were presents so she didn’t want to unpack them until after their Mating Ritual. She turned around and saw her reflection in the mirror of one of the wardrobes. The necklace was glistening beautifully on her neck. Olive rubbed it and thought that it was responsible for how peaceful she had felt during the meeting.
She smiled and opened one of Wayne’s wardrobes. The big, yellow hoodie was hanging there and she took it and wore it. Olive was going to leave when she caught sight of something shimmering at a corner of the wardrobe. She pushed some hanging clothes aside and picked the chain. It was the same chain she had seen that night that she and Wayne went out for the first time.
Again, she felt some attachment to the gold chain and stared at it like it held memories she wanted to find. She felt uneasy all of a sudden and dashed out of the dressing room with the chain hanging over her index finger. Wayne had already finished pouring out a jar of orange juice into glasses when Olive came out.
“Yellow? I hate that color,” Wayne stated without looking at her. He was seeing her from the corner of his eyes.
“Well it is one of my favorite colors,” she replied with a shrug.
“I thought your favorite color would be green?” he looked up at her.
“It is. Yellow is my other favorite color,” she answered. Wayne looked down and his eyes caught the chain in her hand. Again, his expression darkened.
“You always seem to be drawn back anytime you see this chain,” she stated and lifted it up.
