After dinner, Sylvia went straight to her room. The constant traveling had left her feeling exhausted. Once back in her room, she hurriedly washed up and lay down on the bed to rest.
Just as she settled in, a video call from Franklin popped up. Sylvia answered, and his handsome face appeared on her phone screen.
“Are you at home?” His deep, magnetic voice resonated. It seemed he had just taken a shower; his short hair was tousled, and he held a towel in one hand, casually drying his hair before tossing it aside.
He sat on the edge of his bed, looking at Sylvia through the video call. “Do you miss me?”
Sylvia eyed his muscular body clad in a black robe, the collar casually open to reveal his well-defined chest and a tantalizing Adam’s apple. He looked incredibly alluring.
Her eyes darkened, and she raised an eyebrow. “So, you took a shower just to tease me?”
Franklin chuckled softly. “So, are you teased?”
Sylvia’s heart skipped a beat at his charming smile. She wanted to look away but couldn’t help stealing another glance.
Seeing the faint blush on her pretty face, Franklin’s mood brightened. He took out an exquisite box and held it up to the camera. “Guess what this is?”
“What?” Sylvia blinked her watery eyes in confusion.
“You’re such a little dummy,” he said with a hint of affection in his eyes. “I’ll tell you tomorrow.”
Sylvia thought to herself: She was highly intelligent and skilled in many areas, yet someone called her dumb?
Franklin didn’t tease her further. “You’ve had a busy day. Get some rest; you have work at the hospital tomorrow.”
Sylvia pouted. “What is it, really?”
“I’ll tell you tomorrow. Be good and go to sleep.” Franklin blew her a kiss through the phone and hung up.
What was he up to? Why tease her today if he was going to tell her tomorrow?
Luckily, she wasn’t overly curious. Exhausted from the past few days, she quickly fell asleep.
The next day was sunny and bright.
Birds chirped incessantly in the courtyard as Sylvia finished breakfast and prepared to leave, only to be stopped by members of the Hipps Family.
“Sylvia, we heard your friend needs a match for a transplant. We all plan to go with you to see if we can help.”
Clare stood in the living room holding Mollie’s hand, looking like they had been waiting for her.
It wasn’t just them; Maritza, Annika, Jaelynn, and several other young members of the Hipps Family were there-about twenty people in total.
Sylvia was stunned. “Are all of you going?”
Annika Hipps smiled. “Yes, we’re young and strong; donating bone marrow is no problem.”
Jaelynn Hipps tilted her head. “Of course, we can’t miss out on saving a life. If we’re a match, we’ll do it without hesitation.”
Maritza Hipps urged, “Yes, let’s go. We shouldn’t waste any time.”
Sylvia’s heart warmed as she softly said, “Thank you all. Let’s head out.”
The group from the Hipps Family got into their cars and headed to the hospital together.
Sylvia rode with Clare and his wife. On the way, she sent a message to Jaden from the Dark Night brothers about the matching process.
Jaden agreed without hesitation to bring the brothers over for testing.
Not stopping there, she also messaged Sierra from Middle Evroya, asking her and the sisters from the Maternal and Child Foundation to come for testing as well.
After all, they couldn’t miss any potential matches.
Meanwhile, Franklin contacted subordinates from SouthStar Airlines and Maskelyne Group about the matching process, emphasizing that participation was voluntary.
He also reached out to his MI6 brothers. Isla Saunders promptly led many of them towards Aettosa. “Master, don’t worry; if we can save a life, we will.”
While Franklin was busy coordinating these efforts, Sylvia had already arrived at the hospital with the younger members of the Hipps Family to start their testing.
If they found a match, Jenna would have hope.
Mrs. Wright was deeply moved by the Hipps Family’s enthusiasm and quickly ordered some milk tea and coffee for everyone.
“Thank you all so much. Once Jenna’s better, we’ll definitely visit you,” Mrs. Wright said to Clare after his test.
Clare looked dashing in a white casual outfit. “Mrs. Wright, you’re too kind. You’re my sister’s best friend; we’re just here for testing. We might not even be able to help.”
Mrs. Wright sighed. “Who would’ve thought? Life is unpredictable. Sylvia turned out to be a child of the Hipps Family. The Evans family went too far by adopting Jin Feng without revealing anything.”
“It’s all in the past now; there’s no point dwelling on it,” Clare said calmly. “I just hope my sister is still alive somewhere so we can find her one day.”
Even if it meant searching every corner of the world.
Mollie came out just then, pressing a cotton swab against her arm until it stopped bleeding before tossing it into the trash can. “I wonder when we’ll get the results.”
“About a week,” Sylvia said as she approached in her white lab coat, her long black hair neatly tied up, looking very professional. “So there’s no need to rush.”
“It’s been a while since I’ve seen Sylvia looking like an angel in white,” Mrs. Wright said as she handed Sylvia a cup of milk tea. “Have some water.”
Sylvia took a sip. “It’s my favorite flavor.”
The Hipps Family members finished their tests one by one and chatted for a bit before leaving.
Just as they left, Jaden arrived with his brothers. They had been handling business in Aettosa’s capital and rushed over upon getting Sylvia’s message.
“Boss!” Jaden hadn’t seen Sylvia in a long time and greeted her with a big smile. “Long time no see.”
“How have you been?” Sylvia looked him over and noticed he had gotten even more muscular.
“The same as always.” Jaden handed her a thick ledger. “These are our business accounts for over a year. Boss, you’ve been too busy to check them.”
“I trust you,” Sylvia said as she took the ledger. “Come on, I’ll take you for testing.”
Mrs. Wright watched curiously. “Where did Sylvia meet such…”
Big burly men? And they called her boss!
Brayden put an arm around her shoulders. “Mom, don’t ask too much. My aunt has great skills and knows many people! I heard Logan is also bringing people over!”
“Really?” Mrs. Wright was pleasantly surprised. “The more people getting tested, the better our chances compared to doing it alone. I heard Sylvia’s teacher is also searching the blood bank for matches…”
“Yes! There’s strength in numbers; Jenna will be saved.” Brayden said as he walked towards Jenna’s room again. “I’ll go take care of Jenna now!”
“Alright, go ahead. And remember to order more coffee and milk tea!” Mrs. Wright reminded him.
“Got it.”
In her office, Sabrina rolled her eyes in frustration. “All this fuss over getting tested; it’s ridiculous!”
“Nurse Sabrina, Dr. Sylvia just arrived and is already making such a big scene as if she’s the only one who knows people,” the head nurse said obsequiously, always eager to please Sabrina due to her family background.
Sabrina glanced at her disdainfully and sneered. “Hmph! Anyone who didn’t know better would think she owns this hospital!”
“Yeah, it’s really disgusting,” the head nurse echoed Sabrina’s sentiments as they both badmouthed Sylvia together. “The title evaluations are coming up soon. I heard several experts and chief physicians will be scoring both you and Dr. Sylvia comprehensively. Professor Juan is her teacher; he’ll definitely give her high marks.”
“Hmph! Professor Juan didn’t accept me back then, but Professor Berry did,” Sabrina said with some concern. Conor Berry was her mentor in hematology and second only to Juan in expertise on blood diseases.
Juan and Conor were classmates and rivals who later collaborated on various blood disease studies.
“I’m just a head nurse; I don’t know much about that,” the head nurse lamented. “If only I were a doctor…”
“What’s the use of saying that now?” Sabrina snapped irritably at her before shooing her away.
The head nurse quickly left; this was a shared office with several young doctors who didn’t have their own private offices yet.
They had overheard Sabrina’s conversation with the head nurse but couldn’t afford to offend her due to their less privileged backgrounds.
Some disliked Sabrina but dared not speak out against her.
Others were sycophants like the head nurse who constantly flattered Sabrina.
“Dr. Sabrina, why worry? Your medical skills are excellent; you’ll definitely get promoted.”
“Yeah, absolutely!”
“I agree; you have nothing to worry about.”
Several doctors began praising Sabrina.
Sabrina felt somewhat better hearing their compliments. What did Sylvia have to compete with her? She was the daughter of Secretary of State Lucille! With such a background, those professors would have to think twice before not choosing her!
