“What?”
The sudden change in topic caught Rosalind off guard. Weren’t they supposed to be discussing the project?
Malcolm couldn’t help but smile at the bewildered expression on Rosalind’s face.
“Did I startle you?”
“… A little,” she replied with a strained smile, clearly unprepared for this turn of events.
Breaking the awkward silence, Malcolm spoke up. “I apologize for the abruptness. I did come here today primarily for the project. I just couldn’t resist making a small joke when I saw the sunlight shining on you.”
He pushed the documents and materials in front of him towards Rosalind. “Take a look at these. They contain the design drawings and several nationally certified patent certificates.”
She took them and began flipping through the pages. The introductions were thorough and meticulously organized.
Some patents were co-authored, while others were solely credited to Malcolm.
“As for the project collaboration, I’ll need to take these back and discuss them with my superiors. Personally, I believe that if we can achieve mass production, this project has strong potential for state support.”
Technological development has always been a top priority.
“This visit was a bit rushed. When I return to Northville City, our laboratory will have completed a concept car. I’ll invite you to experience it then.” Malcolm maintained a warm smile, speaking in a gentle tone like a friendly neighbor. “I am mainly responsible for this project, so I’ll be waiting for your feedback. If your team decides against it, I’ll reach out to other companies.”
“I’ll need to expedite this!” Rosalind finally showed a hint of a smile. Malcolm’s sincerity was evident.
For high-tech projects like this, it’s customary to approach multiple investment banks during the financing phase, allowing them to compete for the project. The highest bidder wins! By expressing what he did today, Malcolm had given her a genuine choice.
Although she anticipated that Prosperity Holdings would likely approve the project with a 90% chance, she remained cautious and refrained from making immediate promises.
“When you announce your first round of financing, there should be significant interest from various parties, right?”
Malcolm paused and nodded somewhat sheepishly. “Yes, many have reached out to me. However, my cousin had already mentioned that Prosperity Holdings is my top choice.”
“If we do end up collaborating successfully, I will definitely request my superiors to include Tilda’s name as well.”
“You two share a great relationship,” he remarked with a smile. “My cousin is quite lively. At first, I thought your friendship wouldn’t last long, but it seems you can tolerate her.”
Thinking of Tilda, Rosalind’s lips curved into a slight smile. “She has been incredibly kind to me.”
In her life, she had rarely experienced such genuine care. Tilda provided her with unwavering support and the purest of emotions, standing by her side through both happy and challenging times for many years.
“Every time we meet, she can’t stop talking about you. If you were a guy, I’d suspect my cousin had fallen for you.”
Malcolm and Rosalind continued chatting about Tilda’s childhood antics, creating a more relaxed and comfortable atmosphere between them.
They ended their conversation only when Cedric called.
Rosalind then took a taxi to the Industrial and Commercial Bureau of Jingtown City. During the journey, she received a call from Sirena.
“Do you have the core technical drawings for the Huayi project?”
“Yes, I do.”
“Send them to my email, I need them.”
Rosalind paused and furrowed her brow. “But… that goes against the rules. If you urgently need them, you can ask Mr. Chan to send them to you.”
After all, technical drawings are confidential, especially those related to core technologies.
