Rosalind hesitated when Ulric suggested returning to the Walters’.
“Is it appropriate for me to go with you?” she asked, her mind recalling Sirena’s message to Ulric.
Given her current status, the situation felt quite awkward.
“There’s nothing inappropriate about it. Just accompany me. If you don’t want to get out of the car, you can wait inside,” Ulric assured her, realizing her concerns.
Relieved to hear that he didn’t expect her to make an appearance, Rosalind let out a sigh of relief.
“Alright then, let me know a day in advance so I can arrange my work,” she responded, her tense state easing as she spoke.
Ulric nodded, observing her relaxed demeanor. He questioned whether it was the right decision to introduce her to the Walters family so suddenly. His intention was for his mother to form an impression of Rosalind and gradually find a way to accept her.

Throughout the morning, Cedric efficiently delved into social media networks, thoroughly investigating every aspect.
Rosalind silently marveled at the exceptional abilities of the people working alongside Ulric.
As noon approached, she suddenly remembered her appointment with Malcolm.
She tried sending him an emoji, and he replied promptly.
Malcolm:
[I was just thinking about whether to disturb you, but I was afraid you might be busy.]
Rosalind:
[I’m free now. We can meet up and discuss the project in detail.]
Her words were always straightforward, leaving no room for ambiguity.
Almost instantly, Malcolm sent Rosalind an address.
“Cedric, I have an interesting project. Would you like to join me?” she asked, considering the camaraderie she had developed with Cedric over the past few days.
“I need to go to the Industrial and Commercial Bureau, so I can’t go with you! And you need to be back by 4 PM, there are some confirmation documents you need to discuss with the legal department,” Cedric replied, his focus on work evident.
Rosalind gave an approving gesture, tidied up, and hailed a taxi to the agreed location.
During the journey, she occasionally glanced out the window, amazed by how much Jingtown City had transformed. The old, dilapidated houses had been replaced by towering skyscrapers.
Although she didn’t hold much sentimental attachment to this place, it was her birthplace and where she spent the most important years of her student life.
Looking at it now, the hardships she endured didn’t seem as memorable, their details becoming blurry in her mind.
The taxi came to a halt by the roadside, and the driver handed her the receipt.
Rosalind casually glanced at it, noting that the fare was 17 yuan, and the date read August 20th.
In five days, it would be Sirena’s birthday.
No wonder…
Why did Ulric suddenly want her to go to meet the Walters family without even stepping out of the car? Merely being present seemed to be his intention.
It appeared that she was going to be used as a tool again that day, a means to make Sirena jealous.
At times, she desired to ask Ulric about the misunderstandings or issues he had with Sirena that led them to torment each other and involve her, an insignificant person, in their affairs.
With mixed emotions, she entered the restaurant where Malcolm was already waiting for her.
Unlike his usual conservative attire, he wore a white tracksuit that made him look youthful and energetic. However, the gold-rimmed glasses on his nose still conveyed his scholarly aura.
“Order whatever you like,” Malcolm offered, pushing the menu towards her.
Rosalind waved her hand. “No, I already had lunch.”
“In that case, shall we get straight to the point?” he suggested.
She nodded. “Alright, go ahead!”
“Uh-huh.” Malcolm paused for a moment, taking a deep breath before speaking. “Do you think… I’m suitable to be your boyfriend?”
