“…”
“I couldn’t help but feel a sense of familiarity when I heard the name Rosalind Ruell.”
Rosalind sensed that the discussion had reached its limit. If they continued probing, the bizarre events of that night would be exposed!
She didn’t want anyone to discover her arrangement with Ulric. It was better if everyone believed that Ulric was merely showing kindness due to their shared history at school.
“Hey, Cedric, come and take a look at their trademark patent book…”
…
The W Group never engaged in charity solely for appearances.
Ulric personally examined the list of every group of underprivileged students he sponsored, verifying their actual circumstances. He would then discreetly send someone to verify if there were even needier students who had been overlooked.
When he encountered students with seriously ill parents, Ulric paid extra attention to ensure they wouldn’t have to sacrifice their education for the sake of survival.
By the end of the day, he was utterly exhausted.
Just as he settled into the car bound for Jingtown City, Ulric dialed Rosalind’s number.
“Hello? Mr. Walters.”
He knew Cedric was with her.
“Yes, I need to review the due diligence report you prepared today. Bring it to me tonight.”
“Alright.”
After hanging up, Ulric massaged his temples, and then Johnny called.
“You abandoned your duties and took off to Jingtown! So, did that girl find out about everything you’ve done for her? Did it move her to tears?”
“She won’t find out.”
This included the reason why he didn’t follow her into the store near the school gate-he was afraid the shopkeeper would recognize him as the “young man” who had given them money.
At times, Ulric found himself quite foolish. Compared to Rosalind’s cautiousness, wasn’t he even more timid?
“Our esteemed Mr. Walters is truly noble. Tsk tsk! So when are you coming back? I’m nearly finished here. Let’s grab Sirena and have a good drink-no going home until we’re completely wasted!”
“Dinner will suffice, but I won’t drink.”
“Hah! Like you’d ever get yourself drunk!”
Ulric suddenly smiled, “I’ve never been drunk.”
“…”
The car arrived at the hotel. Ulric, cloaked in his coat, returned to his suite and surveyed the room-it was empty except for him.
He reached for his phone and sent a text message. Shortly after, there was a discreet knock on the door.
He opened it and glanced at the documents in her hand, “You actually brought the report?”
“I was worried Cedric might come looking for you.”
Ulric tugged at his thin lips and began unbuttoning his shirt one by one, revealing his well-toned physique.
Taken aback by his sudden act, Rosalind’s face reddened, and she turned away. “Are you going to take a shower?”
Observing her conflicted yet bashful expression, Ulric let out a deep chuckle and stooped down to retrieve a fresh set of pajamas from his suitcase.
His long fingers rummaged inside for a moment before he spoke, “You only brought one box?”
“What?”
“This.”
He walked over to the bedside table and shook the now-empty box of condoms.
“Oh, right…”
“Did we run out at home?”
Rosalind stiffened and shook her head. “No, I thought you would be too tired from the trip.”
Who would have predicted they would use up five in one night!
Ulric crossed his arms and gazed at her. “So, what shall we do now?”
