Rosalind dismissed his words as mere barking.
That woman had always aspired to be the official wife of the Ruell family, relentlessly pressuring Kennard to divorce.
She had caused countless scenes, yet Eva stubbornly refused to sign the divorce agreement, insisting on maintaining her status as a mistress.
Rosalind understood her mother’s perspective, it was a crucial reason for Eva’s will to live, even more important than herself.
After their return, Cedric noticed Rosalind’s pale face but chose not to inquire further. They pretended as if nothing had happened and were summoned back to SNS Company after dinner.
Ulric and his team had likely just finished their meal as well. At that moment, Ulric sat on the sofa in the reception hall, his suit jacket draped over his arm and his long legs crossed.
Upon spotting Rosalind, he raised his hand and gestured for her to approach.
Without delay, she walked over to Ulric’s side, offering a polite smile. “Mr. Walters.”
“Allow me to introduce you. This is Mr. Motley from SNS Company.”
“Hello, Mr. Motley.” Rosalind couldn’t comprehend why Ulric was suddenly introducing her to this person, but she knew she had to uphold proper etiquette and not embarrass the W Group.
Mr. Motley, noticing that Ulric had specifically called her over for an introduction, realized her unusual status. He smiled and extended his hand. “Hello.”
“Rosalind has been assigned to handle our cooperation this time. You can directly contact her for any matters.”
Ulric’s words landed like a bombshell in the calm lake.
Rosalind was stunned!
When had she become the project leader? She… she had no experience!
“Miss Ruell appears so young, I didn’t expect her to be such an important right-hand person for Mr. Walters! I must have underestimated her,” Mr. Motley remarked, viewing Rosalind through a different lens, a touch of flattery evident in his eyes.
After all, pleasing Ulric was no easy task, so he had to try his luck with others.
“… You flatter me.”
Rosalind was forcibly pulled into this conversation by Ulric until nightfall before finally leaving SNS Company.
On the way back to the hotel, she couldn’t contain her confusion and asked, “Most of the support for this project comes from Cedric. It doesn’t feel right for me to take credit for others’ work!”
Having just arrived at the headquarters, she didn’t want to make enemies right away, it would hinder any future progress!
“Cedric handles many projects and won’t mind this one,” Ulric replied, rubbing his temples, a day of socializing had left him exhausted.
“Whether he minds or not is his concern. What I’m doing feels unethical.”
“Rosalind,” Ulric suddenly addressed her with a stern tone, using her full name. “Everyone at the headquarters, even the most junior staff, boasts an impressive resume. If you want to stay, you must have one too.”
That’s how you silence others.
“In that case, I’d rather not remain at the headquarters. I’ll return to Prosperity Holdings after completing my training,” Rosalind asserted stubbornly. Taking credit for something that wasn’t rightfully hers filled her with guilt.
She knew she would spend countless nights tossing and turning, unable to sleep.
Ulric frowned and remained silent for a few seconds before speaking. “This project was initially intended for you. Cedric has always known that he was just assisting.”
“?”
“Don’t doubt it. I said I wouldn’t show favoritism, but I believe you have the capability to be the main person in charge of this project. It’s just that you’re not yet familiar with all the aspects, so Cedric is acting as your mentor.”
Rosalind gazed at Ulric, feeling that she could never fully comprehend or grasp this man!
He was the same person who coldly rejected her application, and now he was suddenly entrusting her with an important role.
