Rosalind vehemently denied, “Absolutely not!”
Tilda probed further, “Did your friend mention anything about his sexual performance? If he’s lacking in that department, it’s a deal-breaker!”
Rosalind instinctively responded, “No, that’s not the case.”
“Your friend told you that?” Tilda’s eyes widened with excitement, clearly intrigued by the topic. “Come on, stop beating around the bush. Which friend are we talking about here?”
“Uh… it’s someone you don’t know, an old classmate of mine.” Rosalind swiftly changed the subject, fearing she might slip up. “By the way, I have a meeting with the person in charge of the Huayi project today. Are you available?”
Tilda clicked her tongue, looking slightly troubled. “Not today, the head office just transferred additional funds for the Hanyang project, so I need to go there.”
“No problem, I’ll go by myself then.”
Rosalind tidied up, printed the list of third-party companies sent by Ulric from her email, organized it into a folder, checked the time, and headed towards the designated location.
The person in charge at Huayi was a middle-aged man. Despite his age, he maintained a fashionable appearance and spoke with a slight regional accent.
“The risk associated with this third-party loan, Prosperity Holdings can’t expect us to bear it entirely, can they?”
He adopted a confrontational tone right from the start.
Naturally, he was aware of their team’s urgent need for this project.
Although the risk was high, the potential profits were indeed enticing.
“Mr. Wong, fulfilling the amount stated in your company’s investment guarantee letter is initially Huayi’s contractual responsibility.” Rosalind smiled as she handed over a copy of the guarantee letter, carefully choosing her words. “Prosperity Holdings has demonstrated utmost sincerity. We believe that Huayi is also eager to see this project succeed, which is why our Mr. Chan proposed this solution.”
“Hmph.” Mr. Wong didn’t show any respect, scanning Rosalind from head to toe before remarking, “Since the final contract hasn’t been signed yet and Prosperity Holdings keeps mocking us about the amount in the guarantee letter, perhaps we should just forget about it! W Group is a big entity, Huayi doesn’t need to rely on it.”
He turned to leave, but Rosalind stood up. “Mr. Wong, please wait!”
This time, he actually paused but took a few deliberate steps forward, cornering Rosalind in the private room of the restaurant.
“Is there something else?”
Rosalind furrowed her brow, feeling alarmed by his proximity. She lowered her head, trying to find an opportunity to escape.
Unexpectedly, Mr. Wong firmly grabbed her wrist, his smile transforming from disdainful to lecherous. “You asked me to stay, yet now you’re avoiding me. What do you mean by that?”
“Please let go!” She struggled a few times but couldn’t match his strength.
“Still pretending to be innocent? Well, I think this place isn’t suitable for discussing business. How about we go somewhere else?”
As he spoke, he attempted to forcefully drag her away.
In a moment of desperation, Rosalind disregarded everything else and delivered a powerful kick to his vulnerable area-
Mr. Wong’s face contorted in pain, and he raised his hand to deliver a hard slap!
“You filthy woman! I’ll kill you!”
The slap struck her forcefully, causing Rosalind to hit the wall and blur her vision.
Knowing she was still in danger, she tried to navigate her way out of the private room based on her memory.
Suddenly!
She felt a pair of large hands enveloping her from the front!
Instinctively, Rosalind wanted to struggle, until she heard Ulric’s distant yet calm voice in her ear, like a soothing illusion.
“Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid… It’s me, I’m here.”
