Chapter 18 It Is Working Hours

Book:Wrong Invitation For My Mr Right Published:2024-9-14

Ulric had initially looked forward to this night, but the woman’s behavior was starting to irritate him. Was it because he lacked the necessary skills?
However, as he pressed her down, he realized that it wasn’t the case. Her face was flushed, and she seemed genuinely moved by her own emotions.
Rosalind had wanted to refuse initially, but they were legally married now, and besides, he had already helped her mother. She saw it as repaying the favor.
She closed her eyes, relaxed, and reached out to hold Ulric’s firm backside, kissing him with a sense of resignation.
In that instant, Ulric lost his self-control. He slipped his hand inside Rosalind’s clothes, caressing her ample breasts until he heard her moan with pleasure.
That night marked the official union of their bodies.
Rosalind barely slept for three hours that night.
When she woke up the next day, Ulric was already gone.
A steaming hot breakfast awaited her on the table, accompanied by a note.
“I’m on a business trip. I’ll be back next week.”
The signature was just one word: Walters.
Rosalind looked at the note and then at the breakfast on the table. She couldn’t reconcile the private Ulric, who seemed gentle, with the cold and aloof one at the office.
At home, he could be considered gentle. Even last night, when he was demanding, his actions were gentle as if he was afraid of hurting her.
If it weren’t for that tattoo, she would almost believe that Ulric actually liked her.
Rosalind suddenly felt envious of the woman who had occupied Ulric’s heart for so many years. At least she was deserving of envy.
At the office, Rosalind started working on a loan application after the morning meeting.
Around noon, Mr. Chan abruptly entered her office with an unpleasant expression. “Are you planning to apply for a loan from the headquarters? Our Group Three just made a major mistake. Do you really think the company will approve it?”
“They will,” Rosalind confidently asserted. “You can rest assured!”
This approach was guided by Ulric, and they had shared intimate moments last night. He should give her some leeway, shouldn’t he?
Ulric understood the significance of this project to himself very well.
“I can see that you’ve made progress. It’s not easy to come up with this step, but the feasibility is low. The Huayi project itself already carries certain risks,” Mr. Chan frowned. “Think of another solution.”
“But this is the quickest way to kickstart the Huayi project. Mr. Chan, please trust me this time!”
She was more anxious than Mr. Chan because the success of the Huayi project would enable her to repay Ulric’s money this year.
Mr. Chan pondered for a moment. Although he was unaware of the exact details, as an experienced individual, he sensed that something unusual was happening.
“Very well, I’ll trust you this time. Work hard. The next project will be even bigger than Huayi.”
Rosalind nodded with a smile and watched Mr. Chan leave.
Back at her desk, she contemplated for a moment before taking out her phone to send a message to Ulric’s number:
“I’ve submitted the application.”
Staring at the screen, Rosalind hesitated before adding another message:
“Are you on the plane? Have a safe journey.”
After a while, she received a reply.
Just one word.
“Busy.”
Rosalind deleted the message, stored her phone away, and began pondering how Group Three’s performance would recover once the Huayi project commenced.
By then, Mr. Chan might entrust her with the next project.
Not only that, but she would also receive a bonus of several hundred thousand yuan at the end of the year. Combined with project commissions and her basic salary, maybe she wouldn’t need Ulric’s money for her mother’s treatment anymore.
A newfound hope for her life ignited within her.
During the days when Ulric was away on his business trip, despite working late at the office and then visiting her mother at the hospital, she didn’t feel tired at all.
Every morning when she arrived at the office, the first thing she did was turn on her computer to check if there was any response from the headquarters regarding her application.
Finally, on the fourth day after sending the email, she received a response from the headquarters.
Rosalind quickly opened it and read the black letters against the white background: “Application not approved.”
She was stunned for a moment before hurriedly dialing Ulric’s number.
After a few rings, he answered.
“What’s the matter?”
“Why wasn’t the loan application for the Huayi project approved?”
Ulric fell silent for a few seconds before speaking in a cold tone, “The board of directors conducted a comprehensive evaluation and determined that the Huayi project carries too much risk.”
“But-”
“Rosalind,” Ulric interrupted in a cold voice, “it’s working hours now. Do you have any other urgent matters?”
