“Ugh… Mr. Walters, please, not here…”
“Alright.”
Ulric’s behavior was unusual. His urgency contrasted with his typically calm and indifferent demeanor, leaving Rosalind unsure if he was drunk or not. If he was intoxicated, he could still carry her to the bedroom, but if he was sober… the urgency in his actions puzzled her.
Rosalind felt as if she were intoxicated herself-the world spinning, time stretching on endlessly, and even the ceiling lights seemed to sway along with her.
Unable to bear it any longer, she shifted her gaze to the tattoo on Ulric’s collarbone and bit down hard, hoping to bring him to a stop.
Feeling the pain, Ulric finally halted his actions.
“I’m sorry, I…”
“Mr. Walters, can this be the last time today?” Her voice came out hoarse, carrying a pleading tone that bordered on coquettishness.
Ulric didn’t respond, but after the encounter, he got up and headed to the bathroom.
Rosalind felt a glimmer of hope that she had found Ulric’s pause button. In her desperation, she bit down on that tattoo, a reminder of his beloved.
Sure enough, he released her.
While Ulric showered, Rosalind quickly dressed and grabbed her notebook. When he emerged wearing a dark bathrobe, she anxiously asked, “I plan to redo the due diligence for Huayi completely. Tomorrow, I will communicate with their representative and present the rewritten contract, emphasizing the breach of contract section. Can you take a look?”
She sounded like an assistant who had followed the CEO home to continue working.
Ulric furrowed his brow, towel-drying his still-damp hair.
“Weren’t you just saying you were tired?”
Rosalind immediately understood his implication and awkwardly tugged at her lips. “I, I…”
“The assistant will bring dinner over shortly.”
“What?”
“We can discuss it over dinner.”
Rosalind stared at his retreating figure in a daze.
Hadn’t he just been out socializing? Why would he have the assistant bring dinner…
But it worked out since she hadn’t eaten dinner.
Rosalind followed him to the dining room. This time, the assistant brought an array of seafood and high-end dishes that were clearly beyond her own budget just by looking at them on the table.
“Eat, there’s no garlic,” Ulric signaled with his eyes for her to start while he picked up a crab and began to peel it.
She hadn’t noticed before, but his hands were truly exquisite-pale, cool skin, prominent knuckles, and long fingers.
This man seemed flawless in every way.
“Mr. Walters, you don’t eat garlic either?”
Ulric focused on the crab in his hand and after a few seconds, responded with a hum.
Rosalind was genuinely hungry. Since he had offered, it would only be awkward to decline.
After a while of eating, she suddenly realized that all the crab meat Ulric had peeled ended up in her bowl!
“Mr. Walters?”
“Eat,” Ulric showed no intention of answering her question. He spoke softly, “In this situation, relying solely on the contract won’t suffice. To ensure that the liquid assets can cover the promised investment amount, there are other solutions. You can explore communication with both parties to find a third party to bridge the gap or submit an application to the head office for a loan to the partner. This way, the project can be restarted.”
Rosalind understood immediately and promptly set down her chopsticks to write an application.
But before she could proceed, Ulric caught hold of her wrist. She looked up into his mesmerizing, bright eyes.
The depth of his gaze intensified, and even the warmth of his gaze felt scorching.
“You still have so much energy?”
Rosalind opened her mouth hoarsely, “I said today would be the last time!”
“I didn’t agree.”
