As the car engine roared to life, Johnny suddenly remembered something important and tapped Ulric on the shoulder. “Oh, by the way, Sirena is coming back next week. We should all catch up! Have you seen her Instagram? She looks stunning now!”
Johnny spoke with enthusiasm, but Ulric didn’t even lift his head. “We can discuss it next week.”
“Hey! She’s coming back specifically to help you, and you’re so indifferent?”
Throughout the journey, Johnny kept reminiscing about their shared childhood memories, but Ulric seemed oblivious to every word.
Upon arriving at the company, Ulric didn’t even bid farewell to Johnny and headed straight for the executive elevator.
“Mr. Walters, regarding the infringement lawsuit with BritJin Corporation, do we need to hire more lawyers?” The secretary knocked on the door while entering to deliver some documents. “I heard they’ve hired internationally renowned attorneys.”
Ulric adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses without showing any signs of concern and signed his name at the bottom of the document. “No need. Lawyer Reynolds will handle the legal matters when she returns.”
“Lawyer Reynolds is coming back to the headquarters?” The secretary’s previous worries instantly vanished. “That’s fantastic news! BritJin is bound to lose this case!”
He wasn’t exaggerating, in recent years, any major lawsuit involving the W Group that Sirena handled had always ended in favor of the company.
Just as the secretary was about to leave, Ulric called him back.
“Please purchase some fruits and supplements and have them sent to VIP Room 1 at Central Union Hospital.”
“Yes, Mr. Walters.”
After the secretary left, Ulric took out the newly issued marriage certificate.
He vividly remembered the forced smile that graced Rosalind’s lips when they received it.

Rosalind had been patiently waiting in VIP Room 1 for nearly two hours when Eva finally emerged from her deep coma.

“Mom, you’re awake at last! The doctor came earlier and asked me to sign all the surgery consent forms. You’ll be able to undergo the operation in a few days!”

“No!” Rosalind had no choice but to respond, “I have a boyfriend, he lent me the money.”

“No, we won’t proceed with the surgery. You need to return the money to him!”
Rosalind frowned helplessly. “Mom! If you don’t undergo the surgery, your life will be at risk!”
“I’d rather die than let you rely on a man’s money! Haven’t I always told you that no man is trustworthy? Stay away from them! Especially wealthy ones, they’re not dependable!”
Eva had been deceived in her younger years. Her husband made grand promises before their marriage but ended up cheating on her within two years and even fathered an illegitimate daughter!

Rosalind felt exhausted, her voice involuntarily rising. “My dad might as well be dead, and if something happens to you, I’ll be left an orphan!”
