Not only Rosalind, but even her assistant was momentarily stunned, as if struck by lightning.
Throughout the many years of working with Mr. Walters, the assistant had never seen any women around him. Now, being instructed to purchase that particular item, it was evident to everyone what was happening!
“Understood, Mr. Walters,” the assistant replied.
Rosalind’s face felt ablaze upon hearing this conversation. However, in front of Ulric, she couldn’t afford to appear too reserved, so she feigned calmness and gazed out the window.
She had thought it through carefully. She willingly agreed to Ulric’s terms. Acting coy would only make him lose interest. She didn’t have a boyfriend, and in the face of absolute wealth and power, holding onto old-fashioned principles seemed pointless. To put it bluntly, this was a mutually consensual arrangement-he provided the money and effort.
The most important thing now was to keep Ulric happy. At least in the short term, she wouldn’t have to worry about medical expenses and could learn a lot about work from him.
But despite her rationalizations, as she took a bath, changed into a nightgown, and lay on the bed, nervousness gripped her.
Ulric returned to the bedroom after finishing an international video conference, only to find this scene.
She lay properly on one side of the bed, wearing his nightgown. The loose fabric barely covered her fair skin and long legs due to its size.
To say he had no impure thoughts would be dishonest.
However, he chose not to indulge himself, at least not tonight.
“Rosalind,” he called.
“Yes?” she responded.
“I’ve marked the problematic areas in the Huayi project. If you have any questions tomorrow, ask me. Let’s sleep for now.”
Rosalind blinked. “Aren’t you going to…”
“Not tonight.”
He got into bed from the other side and reached out to wrap his arm around her slender waist from behind. “I’m tired. Turn off the light.”
…
Rosalind initially thought she would be sleepless that night, but unexpectedly, she slept until seven o’clock the next morning!
She groggily opened her eyes, taking in the unfamiliar ceiling. Instantly, she sat up and glanced beside her, there was only a dented pillow, indicating that someone had indeed slept there last night.
Rosalind quickly freshened up and walked out of the bedroom, finally getting a good look at Ulric’s home.
The house was situated in one of the top luxury residential areas in Northville City, with floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides, offering breathtaking sea views from every angle.
She had anticipated a lavish mansion akin to those seen in TV dramas, exuding opulence and grandeur.
However, to her surprise, the house was adorned with a minimalist black, white, and gray palette. The expansive living room emanated a sense of coolness.
Upon reflection, it wasn’t entirely surprising, after all, Ulric himself was like a cold iceberg.
A delightful aroma wafted from the dining room. Rosalind assumed it was the housekeeper preparing breakfast but was taken aback to discover Ulric himself standing in the kitchen!
He was cooking?!
Upon hearing footsteps, Ulric turned his handsome face slightly to glance at her. “The porridge is ready. Bring it out.”
Dumbfounded, Rosalind nodded, still trying to process the shock.
Ulric could easily guess her thoughts and offered an explanation. “I don’t like others entering my home, including servants.”
She awkwardly smiled. “I didn’t expect you to cook porridge.”
What Rosalind truly wanted to express was her astonishment at discovering that Mr. Walters could be so… approachable in private.
