Quentin and Eileen woke up early and packed their bags, changing out of their Miao Clothing and back into their original attire. They secretly hid the storage bag they won from the Big Game in the Miao Clothing as a token of appreciation for Cerys’s family.
They also packed the White Dragon Beard and some soil from the backyard into their bags, leaving dozens of plants for Cerys’s family. Cerys’s family came out to see them off, but Cerys herself was nowhere to be seen.
In the forest, a beautiful girl was playfully pushed out by her companions. Her wet hair was elegantly tied up, adding a touch of solemnity. From her headscarf down, her thick black hair was adorned with shiny silver rings. The silver tassels hung gently over her forehead and ears. Leaning against the east wind, she smiled sweetly, making all the flowers shy away-it was Cerys.
Wizard Eric and Patriarch Rodney, along with the people of White Miao Village, had already gathered outside Cerys’s house to bid farewell to their heroes. Henry and his wife came out to greet everyone.
“Quentin, you are leaving so soon. We haven’t even had a proper farewell banquet for you. It’s truly a pity. Why not stay another day?” Patriarch Rodney tried to persuade them.
“No need to be so courteous, Patriarch. We promised our family we would return in five days,” Quentin replied calmly. “Partings are inevitable, but we will meet again.”
“You are returning home; who knows when we will meet again in Miao Territory,” Wizard Eric said. “You came from afar and are leaving in a hurry. We haven’t had a chance to give you anything.”
“Your presence here to see us off is more than enough. There’s no need for gifts,” Quentin said with a smile.
“In that case, how about I perform a divination for each of you?” Wizard Eric suggested, shaking his staff adorned with a crystal ball that sparkled.
“Wizard, what is that crystal ball on your staff? I’ve always been curious why people call you Sorcerer,” Quentin asked.
“You may not know this, but this crystal ball is the divination sphere passed down through generations of Miao Territory Sorcerers. It can only be used twice a year for divination. This year, I haven’t used it yet,” Eric Shepard explained. “I inherited it from the previous Sorcerer, so I am the new Sorcerer.”
“Last year, Eric divined that two people would come to save Miao Territory, which is why we planned to remove Wesley from his position,” Patriarch Rodney added. “We didn’t expect it to be you two outsiders!”
“So, when the Sorcerer saw us that day, he already knew it was us?” Quentin asked.
“Exactly. Since I knew you were the Wolf Slayer Heroes, I believed you were the ones to save Miao Territory,” Eric Shepard said. “I have no reason to refuse. Please follow me.”
“Henry, prepare two rooms and get pig’s blood, small flags, red candles, and a Bagua plate,” Eric Shepard instructed. Henry nodded and led them to two guest rooms, preparing the materials needed for the divination.
In each room, Quentin and Eileen sat on the floor while Eric Shepard drew a small circle around them with pig’s blood. He placed colorful flags in the circle and lit seven red candles around them.
Wizard Eric first went to Quentin’s room and fixed his staff upright in front of him. “Quentin, what do you want to know about the future? You can only ask one thing,” Eric Shepard asked.
Quentin thought seriously for a moment and said, “Are my parents alive?”
The only thing Quentin had no clue about was the fate of his parents. If he could find out about them through divination, it would be perfect.
“Great Sorcerer, grant me the power to see the truth of the future…” Wizard Eric closed his eyes, standing before his staff with both hands holding the Bagua plate, chanting words Quentin couldn’t understand.
After a long time, Wizard Eric opened his eyes. The crystal ball on his staff suddenly emitted a white light and gradually revealed an image. In the image was a courtyard where a middle-aged couple sat with worried expressions.
Quentin watched intently, tears streaming down his face-that was his long-lost parents! Just as he was watching, the image disappeared, and the crystal ball returned to its original dim state.
Quentin snapped back to reality and exclaimed joyfully, “My parents are safe!”
However, Quentin was puzzled about where his parents were and why they hadn’t reunited with him and his sister. Could there be some reason?
But he was happy that his parents were still alive; he believed he would find them eventually!
