“You know the drill little brother”
Salvador’s jaw tightened at his older brother’s order as his gaze traveled to the silently groaning Kahlil on the floor. “No” he whispered as Aria’s brows furrowed in confusion.
“If no, then get her out of here. No one lives here before passing it” Silverio snarled at his younger brother’s disobedience. It was something new for him.
“This tramp” he gritted out in his mind.
“Then maybe we don’t want to live in this fucking mansion” Salvador’s words felt like a dagger to Aria’s heart as his arm tightened around her.
He looked down at her “Let’s get out of here”.
No no no no. I’m so close.
“Wait” her voice echoed as Salvador froze and Silverio’s eyes perked up in interest.
“American” Silverio muttered in his mind at her accent.
“What is it that I have to do?” she whispered to Salvador as he exchanged a look with his older brother.
“Does your offer still stands?” Salvador asked in a steely voice as Silverio shrugged, completely amused by the scene in front of him.
Salvador sighed and looked down at her again, grabbing her by the shoulder and walking her towards Kahlil lying on the ground.
“Kill him”
Aria’s whole world crumpled as her eyes widened under the dark veil. Her heart hammered as she shakily questioned “What?”
“It’s a tradition. .” Silverio trailed off as Aria waited for him to complete, but he never did.
Salvador rolled his eyes at his brother’s cockiness “Whenever someone new enters our grounds, they have to kill whoever we order to prove their loyalty towards us”
“B-But I’m not one of your men” she countered as her eyes watered looking down at Kahlil’s form. Head busted from behind, eyes swollen and leg twisted in an unnatural form.
“Yet you want to live here” Silverio interjected.
“Brother..” Salvador warned from his eyes as Silverio leaned back with his eyes locked at the woman’s covered form.
“Chop chop” Silverio muttered while grabbing a dagger from the coffee table beside him “I don’t have all day”
With shaky hands, she took the dagger from him as her eyes blurred and she breathed in and out quietly to control herself from showing them her weak side.
“I’ll do it” she voiced out as a smirk made its way to Silverio’s face and Kahlil’s groaning quieted down almost instantly.
“Am I really that selfish?”
Her mind wandered as she watched Silverio kicking Kahlil so that now he laid on his back and stared right at Aria. Quietly.
Her decision wavered as her mind clouded with the happier images of her mother. Her mother smiling, cooking, singing and then; crying, screaming, begging.
Her need for revenge resurfaced and her blood boiled with anger all over again. Her grip tightened around the dagger.
“Come on. . .”
Salvador’s cold voice added to her fuel. She could still hear his grunting voice echo from 10 years ago when he destroyed her mother.
She pulled the dagger up and stabbed it into Kahlil’s lower stomach. A small patch of blood splashed over her dark sleeves as she grimaced at what she just did.
She almost killed her brother because of these two sinners.
A huge hand near her face broke her out of her daze as she stepped a few steps back instinctively. Silverio instantly pulled his hand back after the failed attempt to lift her veil to uncover her face.
“Brother” Salvador glared as Silverio sat back on the chair with an amused smirk.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry. . .” Silverio said with a lazy expression.
He doesn’t look sorry though.
Silverio’s smile disappeared when Aria didn’t react and kept standing with a fixed stance. He didn’t like her boldness.
“Finish him off” He tipped his chin towards a bloodied Kahlil gasping for breath.
Aria stood frozen and clutched the dagger tightly “Let him bleed to death” she whispered, but it was loud enough for the two brothers and a gasping Kahlil to hear.
“I heard it’s more painful to die that way” she emphasized as Silverio roared out in laughter while slapping his thigh.
“She was born for the mafia ways brother. You chose a good one” Silverio praised his brother as Salvador replied with a proud smirk.
Silverio’s dark eyes traveled back to Aria one last time before he abruptly stood up while dusting off his impeccable suit.
“You pass,” he said before walking away with two huge bodyguards following behind.
Salvador broke into a relieved sigh as his hand went to Aria’s lower back and pulled her closer “We did it babe” he whispered as she almost gagged at his words.
She faked excitement and hugged him tightly all the while her eyes being stuck on Kahlil’s struggling form and her trying to muster up a plan to save him in some way or another.
Salvador walked out of the room along with her and signaled the guard standing outside to take care of the body. Aria’s brows furrowed in worry as she slightly turned back to see the guard picking up a limp Kahlil.
No. I cannot let anyone break my resolve for revenge. Not even. . . Kahlil.
It’s been two days since Aria had moved into the mansion. Salvador was stuck to her side continuously so she could neither explore the place nor make up any plans.
She was alone now.
She killed her only confidant. She killed her brother.
She roamed the mansion today because Salvador and Silverio had gone out of the country for 2 months for some work. Her slow steps led her to the room she was first brought in. Where she killed Kahlil.
“Searching for someone?”
A frantic breath escaped her mouth at the unexpected voice as she quickly turned around to see a stunning tanned girl with beautiful jade eyes. She had a lazy smirk on her face while she chewed away a chewing gum.
Aria fisted her burqa and straitened her posture, ready to walk away.
“Mia”
Aria’s heart stopped at the name as she glared at the girl in shock.
Aria took a careful step back as the girl walked closer to her making her breathing hitch. The girl’s mouth reached near her ear as Aria squeezed her eyes shut in fear.
“I know your little secret”
She whispered in a sing-song manner as Aria slowly reached for the gun she had carefully hidden inside her clothing.
The girl immediately stepped back, her jade eyes sparkling with a different emotion as her eyes almost softened.
“Don’t even think about it” the girl pointed towards Aria’s hand trying to clutch her gun “I have something you’d like”
Her tanned hands reached near her face, almost lifting the veil but Aria quickly grabbed it painfully while gritting her teeth.
“What is it?” Aria whispered while roaming her gaze around for guards, luckily no one was present.
“Luckily?” Aria wondered if it truly was just a mere coincidence.
“Oh, she speaks!” the girl laughed as she rounded her bound hand and easily freed herself from Aria’s grasp.
Aria stood there dumbfounded. It wasn’t so easy to escape from her grasp, this woman was dangerous.
The girl pointed her chin towards the back “Come with me”
“No way” Aria barked, backing away but stopped abruptly when she noticed a guard coming in her line of sight and standing just beside Sylvia.
“Oh Jorje” Sylvia exclaimed to the guard as he put an arm around her slim waist “Mia is not listening to me. Do you think I should tell my brothers?”
Aria’s heart stopped.
“Brothers?” she thought as she broke down in cold sweat.
Her gaze ran towards the sly smirk of the girl and then at the stoic hard face of the guard.
“Do you mean Silverio and Salvador?” she questioned carefully while gulping down her nervousness.
“Why of course! Who else?” the girl replied joyfully as Aria’s blood ran cold.
Impossible.
“I have never heard of a sister” Aria spoke before she could gather her mind as the careless smile on the girl’s face dropped instantly.
The girl took a step forward towards her and Aria didn’t back away this time, deciding to stand tall and refusing to look weak.
“There are many things you haven’t heard darling” the girl voiced just above a whisper while pointing towards the back with her chin “Now come with me if you want to live”
Her silent threat shook Aria to the core as she found herself following the obnoxious girl and the guard who acted more like a bodyguard for the girl.
The girl led Aria inside a room towards the back of the mansion as Aria’s gaze ran around the isolated room carefully.
The room was huge just like all the other rooms in the mansion. Jorje took the initiative and walked forward inside the room and lifted the thick carpet off the wooden floor while the girl locked the doors.
