Ben patted Abigor’s shoulder again as he frowned and turned to look at him again “Speak away your troubles without any fear”
He sighed and contemplated for a second. “How far do I have to go for you, Aria Leighton?” he thought in annoyance and looked down defeatedly.
So he started. . .
The doorbell to Aria’s apartment buzzed as she furrowed her brows and looked at the time.
8:03 pm.
Kahlil was currently out, meeting with some clients and setting up dates for her performance. He was a really hardworking person and went out just after returning from the orphanage.
The doorbell buzzed again as she stood up from her bed and wrapped a shawl around herself. She walked towards the door as the doorbell buzzed again.
“Coming!” she groaned out while grabbing the taser from her purse and slowly unlocking the door.
Her eyes widened as she saw the person who made her heart race and her knees weak, standing in his glory in a simple black shirt and black trousers.
“Abigor?” she said, relaxing unconsciously and putting the taser away. His eyes followed her movements as he moved her to the side and came inside.
“I see, you can speak now” he snarkily commented as she rolled her eyes and closed the door behind her “Go, get ready”
“What? Why?” she asked while clutching her shawl and standing with her guard up.
He smirked “We are going on a drive”
“You know, if you try anything I’ll use this taser on you”
Aria said threateningly to Abigor while holding the light pink taser in her hands and glaring at him.
After Abigor broke into her house late in the evening, he dragged her out and made her sit in his car while he drove to god knows where.
He glanced at the taser in her hand and chuckled at the tacky colour “You think that thing is going to do me shit?”
“Wanna try?” she said as she pushed the taser near his ear and it sparked. He backed away in a start and glared at her.
“PUT THAT SHIT AWAY”
“Why? I thought it wouldn’t do shit to you?” she said, mimicking his deep voice and putting the taser, even more, closer to him as he flinched back while glaring at the road.
“ARIA LEIGHTON! PUT THAT AWAY. WE COULD GET INTO AN ACCIDENT, YOU COULD DIE” he shouted on top of his lungs as the nerves on his neck strained in anger.
“I know you’d protect me”
Her simple reply made him still as he saw her putting the taser back in her purse. His heart raced as he gulped down the lump in his throat.
“What makes you think that?” he asked, much calmer because that godforsaken
Thing wasn’t near his ear anymore.
She shrugged and looked out of the window “I just know”
He remained quiet. He knew she hit the bullseye, he’d protect her in a heartbeat and the thought of her getting hurt, made him want to pull his hair out.
“Remember to be gentle, but not too gentle. Girls love a bit of roughness”
Benjamin’s words rang in his head as he scoffed internally. He said all those things Abigor was already doing. At least that’s what he thought.
“Maybe. Maybe I would protect you”
“Really? A drive-in movie?”
Aria looked at the whole place with her mouth a little agape. Multiple cars situated in front of the big screen, showing some random movie as families sat on the trunk of the car. Some chatting while some eating and laughing happily.
An unconscious smile appeared on her face as she looked around the area. Abigor came out with a huge basket and she looked down at it with wide eyes.
“Our second date”
He said with an almost happy tone which made Aria bite the inside of her cheeks to stop the growing grin. She failed miserably.
“I thought you were a luxurious dinner date type of guy” she said while she noticed him opening the trunk of his Audi. Her eyes widened when she saw two huge pillows already settled inside along with a basket.
“I reckoned you’d like something simple” he said while sitting inside, leaning against the pillows and patting the spot next to him “Was I wrong?”
Aria couldn’t fight back the smile this time as she shook her head “You were absolutely right”
He smiled back a bit as he saw Aria climbing up and sitting next to him. Their bodies pressed together as her heartbeat accelerated when he draped his arms around her waist and pulled her even closer.
“I didn’t know you liked women’s perfume” Aria commented nonchalantly as the strong smell of alcohol, cigar and that pesky cheap perfume reaked from his clothes.
“Some hoe tried to cozy up to me” he replied almost instantly “I rejected of course”
She shrugged at that, an uneasy sense of relief flooding her heart.
It’s none of my business.
“Are you hungry?” he questioned, changing the topic, as she shook her head negative. She hadn’t eaten anything since the morning because she just didn’t feel like it. Her heart was still heavy from her breakdown.
He sighed as he held her injured hand and stared at it “What happened this morning, Aria?”
She remained quiet and just stared at the movie going on. She gulped when she felt his arms tightening around her waist and swiftly picking her up. He settled her form on his lap as she gasped in surprise.
“What are y-”
“What was that this morning? Why were you crying?” he interrupted her as she stilled on his lap and breathed out a deep sigh.
“It was nothing” her reply was simple.
A simple lie.
His hands went ahead and cupped her jaw tightly, his rings digging into her soft flesh, as he made her look up at his serious face.
“Do you not trust me?” he asked, his eyebrows furrowed. He felt dumb asking this question, he didn’t even trust himself, forget about others.
She tried to shook her head but his tight hold on her jaw didn’t let her, so instead, she whispered in a soft voice “No”
Abigor sighed and let go of her jaw, she quickly turned back to look at the screen while Abigor glared holes at the back of her head. An awkward silence followed them as Aria kept sitting on his lap.
