Chapter 21

He was blonde, handsome, and tall. He had a lot of tattoos on his arms and deep black eyes.
“Yes.” I limited my response.
I assumed he knew Nick, because when I moved my head to glance at my half-brother, he was dying of nerves. He started scratching his neck while his eyes shone with anger at the back of his friend. “Who are you?” I asked genuinely curious.
“I’m Jackson, but you can call me Jack, beautiful.” He winked at me and turned around. He grabbed Nick by the shoulders and brought him closer to me. Any moment now my half-brother is going to punch someone, he has the same look as the day we went to the museum and he punched that asshole.
“Nick, buddy, you didn’t tell me your sister was this hot. I want to see the others’ reaction when they see her, I didn’t expect anything else, she’s your relative and you’re the heartbreaker of the place.”
Heartbreaker of the place? Seriously? Nice nickname, he must be proud to carry it. I, for my part, think he’s also the asshole of the place.
“I’m leaving. Nice to meet you, Jackson.”
When I set out to run away from the two of them, Jackson grabbed my arm. His audacity annoyed me. One thing was for Nick to do it, another thing entirely was for him to do it.
I broke free from his grip and shot daggers at him with my eyes. “Stay a while, little sister, we’ll get to know each other better. Although Nick has already told me a lot about you.”
Nick gave him a warning look and twisted his shirt collar into his fist.
“Don’t touch her again, got it?” he ordered with a threat in every syllable.
“Calm down, buddy, I didn’t know she was off-limits. Don’t go overboard,” Jackson raised his hands in a sign of innocence, but his smile was still there.
“Now you know she is,” he muttered very close to his face. He didn’t even look at me when he grabbed my arm and led me to a room, we entered and he turned on the light.
“Of course, you let him touch you whenever he wants. How weak you are.”
We are in the janitor’s room, I barely have space to move, so Nick and I are pressed body to body. Again…
“What’s wrong, Nick?” I tried to speak in the most neutral way I could. I know I didn’t succeed.
“Listen to me, don’t get close to him.”
“Couldn’t you have asked me that in a slightly less confined place?”
“No,” his tone of voice was authoritative.
“Who are you to tell me what I should or shouldn’t do?”
“The guy who caused your first orgasm, don’t you remember?”
He said it so lightly that my head and stomach burned with fury. Why did he bring that up in the conversation?
“Excuse me? How do you know you were the first to cause one?” Nick’s expression went from amused to very angry, very angry. “And anyway, if you were, doing something like that doesn’t mean you have control over me. You don’t. I can do whatever I want. You spend all day partying and you tell me what I should do? Go to hell!”
He raised the corner of his mouth. “So tell me, Sam, are you jealous?” My eyes widened. How do I respond to that?
“What? I’m not jealous,” I denied sounding defensive.
What I was really thinking was how jealous I was and how much I would love for him to stop acting like an idiot.
“Well then I can go out and do whatever I want,” he leaned against the door giving me a little more space.
“Then so can I,” I retorted, crossing my arms. His face darkened.
“I see you’re one of those who spread their legs easily, huh?” I looked at him dumbfounded. He said it just to hurt me, but I didn’t care.
“What did you say?”
“You did it without hesitation with me, now I see you will also do it with anyone…” I didn’t let him finish and slapped him with all my might. His pupils dilate. He knows he messed up.
There wouldn’t be any problem if I loved to spread my legs with anyone if that was the case, the only thing that mattered was if I wanted to. What bothered me was the derogatory tone in which he said it, as if I should feel ashamed of myself for allowing him to be with me.
“You’re a fucking bastard! You know what? I was a fool! A big idiot! I can’t believe I even considered feeling attracted to you, in love or whatever,” I regretted letting those words out of my mouth as soon as I did.
I was thinking all the time that I was the problem, but it turns out I’m not, or at least, I’m not the whole problem. “Answer,” he begged, punching the wall, causing several cleaning products to fall to the floor. “Just… Sam, answer, you’re driving me crazy, answer.” He rested his head on my neck.
I didn’t know this side of him. He had never acted so desperately angry with me. As if he went off the deep end after our kiss. I had changed too, I went crazy just being near him. We were both crazy.
